Is it worth upgrading a 6* with maxed 5*s of the same character?

I have a r5 5* human torch and a r5* 5* Hercules (awakened at sig 100 something). However, a few weeks back I pulled a 6* torch and I just pulled a 6* Hercules from the Robot ROL challenge. Is it worth upgrading either/both of them or should I focus on my other 6*s?

If you can take torch to r3 do it but awakened herc is a lot better than unawakened

logically yes, there are plenty of champs that require dupe and high sig for them to be better than a 5* but still higher attack and health and adrenaline.
if you have a cgr, herc, doom, maxed 5* but then got them regular or duped would you really not r3 as soon as possible?

    Yes, coz I did so.
The same applies to CGR, Red Mag, Apoc...etc.

I hv 21 5* r5 and 48 6* r2/r3 (combined) and only doom and aegon i have both as a 5* r5 and 6* r3. Jus as Vance2_jr mentioned, I don't need double of so many champions. Whatever I have at r5 and can b used, i leave the 6* versions at r1. Yes, I have 6* versions of duped warlock, duped mags, duped torch, duped hype, duped void all sitting at r1 playing their role as arena fodders. I hv stopped r5-ing 5* unless i get r5 gems (from variant) as I rather r2 other 6* champs to test and try them out.

Eventually, yes because a 6* will get higher attack and health the higher the ranks they go. Especially once you start being able to r3 and r4 and soon enough r5.

I don't give any thought whatsoever to my 5*s when deciding whether or not to rank a 6*.

It depends a little on where you are in the game but generally my own approach to this conundrum (before moving on fully to 6*s) was to rank up 6*s that didn't need high sig and then 5*s that did require it. Both HT and Herc are champs you should rank up eventually even if you have them as 5*s, but as others have said, Herc really benefits from his sig ability. Unless you can take him to r3, I would probably focus on someone else at the moment. When you eventually awaken him, go for it.

Human Torch, meanwhile, is not as reliant on his signature ability. I guess it can be nice at times but I find it to be a pretty odd ability. He's not really a lane clearer so you probably won't have him enter fight after fight, meaning that the chance that you ever regain the persistent charge is really low in most scenarios (especially in Act 7 and the like, where there are only a few fights per lane + the boss).

As such, I think you can definitely rank him up. I personally have my awakened HT at r3 and he's awesome. Given that he's boosted in Act 7 for being a 6*, and will be boosted in Act 8 both for being a 6* and for each rank he has, you'll probably want to rank your 6* up as high as you can.

Debating this at the moment with doom, HT and nimrod (only nimrod is awakened) with their 5* counterparts at sig200

I find when I need to bring torch, two torches is great. Same with nimrod.

Some champs are convenient to have in both rarities.

I thought OP’s question is very specific: having 5*r5 version of HT/Herc (first) then pull 6* HT/Herc (second), should he rank them up or shift resources to other 6*. So the consideration should not be whether to rank 5* or not. It is something already done.
