Is Nightcrawler any good for defence?

I remember days when Nightcrawler used to be a nightmare on defence. I had 2 questions.

1. Is Nightcrawler a rare pull like iceman?? (I got him from featured pool)
2. Is he ant good fir defence?

Nightcrawler is an underrated offensive character. He can dodge all attacks while dashing back. And can dish out decent damage in swashbuckling mode. On defense he is quite bad to fight without the right counter and with some nodes. Any slow champion or true accuracy champion can counter him with ease

on defense, with all the evade counters we have now, he's not anywhere near the top of the defender list. on offense, he's got no utility, so he's not useful
