Not sure why you'd want to, but I guess you can sabotage yourself. Having 11/30 spots in your deck taken by 2*s and another 3/30 banned makes them have roughly a 50% chance of each draw being a dud. While there's a decent chance of pulling a ranked up champ with 3-5 draws per round, success in BGs requires decent counters and not just drawing a ranked up champ.

Its backfired on some people I have played against. Ended up having to draft some 2 star champs and that didn't fair well for them

This strategy shouldn't be needed as rating and prestige shouldn't have anything to do with matches when competing with same rewards. How can people competing with stronger rosters complain when everyone competing for same rewards?

Why would this surprise people? Aw was messed up and Kabam redid the matchmaking to avoid having weaker alliances making it to the top spots without having to ever face the top teams.

Yet at least one alliance I won’t name, who is part of the master’s if not top3, keeps on swapping between their alliance and their shell, to get easier matches within tier1 and therefor rank higher without having to work too much.

Whatever the system put in place is, some people always find the way to work around it

It’s manipulating matchmaking in the hopes of getting easier opponents. While this is done in Arena with sandbagging, it’s slightly scummier to do it against other actual players who don’t have as developed rosters to steam roll them. There’s nothing “wrong” with what they’re doing in the sense of it’s not breaking the rules or the TOS, however morally speaking it’s a scummy tactic.

Well don’t know what they fixed but I went from matching paragon players pretty close to my level of 2.2m rating and 4 6r4, some 6r3-2 and a few 5* in my deck to facing 3.5-4m accounts with 10ish 6r4’s and the rest all 6r3.

Just odd and I’m only at the gold1 level, not like I’m in the higher tiers of victory track

They really should have made different leagues. They could have made a 5 & 6* league with top rewards and a 4* and below league with lesser rewards. People would still be sandbagging with R1 5* but the advantage of doing something like that would be significantly lessened making it a less attractive tactic for people to exploit.
