They’ll probably release when AQ would ordinarily complete. Trying to release them manually before that happens runs the risk of Very Bad Things happening internally in the game, and probably isn’t worth it.

You can still join AQ from AQ BG chat. I just did 5 moves that way "for fun". Typical stuff.
