I tried the Grandmaster after taking lane A, but got barely anywhere after using 400 units.

Is it better to take the path which makes the beam blockable?

My champions for the fight are CMM, Nick Fury, Doom, and Emma Frost + Kitty synergy, should this work well?

I have 4000 units but am unsure whether to save these for the replacement gifting event or to go for the GM

Go for the grandmaster instead of gifting, first of all. The path that makes the beam blockable is, imo, not worth it because it also gives him 200% attack. This means it'll be doing crazy block damage. You need to learn how to dex his sp1 (try to practice with iron man's sp1). That being said, lifecycle (the node on the path that makes the beam blockable) is great for doom as you'll always be knocking the opponent down. Make sure you can play around unblockable (for the rage 2.5 node and for the grandmaster). Kitty and CMM don't rely on debuffs, so I would just solo path A with them. For my gm attempt, I made it to him several times before I actually beat him. My suggestion is do path A with kitty and CoMM until you can relatively consistently dex the gm's sp1. Good luck!
