1) Prestige purposes, 7* r2 will not be sig 200 till the time r5 appears in game (I expect that on the New year event)
2) 7* r2 would cost more than 6* r5, you will need more resources
3) Sigs also important for many champ in gameplay purposes, so I would rather have rank 5 Hercules sig 200 with ascension, than 7* r2 low sig

It falls in the same argument as to why I would rather rank up a five star at Sig 200 over an unduped six star.

Sure, you can brag about having a rank two Seven Star but unless you magically pull a beyond God tier that doesn't need to be awakened, I'll get more from a six star that's got a healthy amount of sig stones invested.

Needs dupe & high sig - 6*
Undupe is good to go - 7*
Needs dupe but low sig - 7* if duped otherwise 6*

Well, who knows if max sig 7* will take 300 sigs to achieve? Even the old 200 sig rule will make 6* champ more useful like Angela, Namor, Cap IW, Thing, Guardian and Valkyrie etc.
