Alliance War - how to reserve spots

When we are fighting other teams, they have spots marked "reserved" on their roster.

What does that mean and how do you do it?

I am hoping it lets you reserve space for regulars, so they don't get bumped.

Thanks

It means they placed defenders in that battlegroup prior to the attack phase beginning. If you don’t place defenders (which you should if you’re going to play), then you won’t be guaranteed a spot on the attack.

@Furrymoosen Thank you again. Sorry for all the dumb questions.

We are having problems with having 1 BG with a 30 member alliance. Some wars 5 show up. Some wars 30.
This then displaces regulars, who just weren't quite as fast to get their defense in.

We are considering a 2 BG group. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if your the alliance leader then you need to place down rules, If there are regulars then state it to the alliance and tell them anyone can join after they all have joined, if they're inconsistent and its hurting your alliance kick them out.

I agree with what Lokx said above. Figure out how many people want to do war consistently and set up the number of BGs accordingly. You can then assign players to a specific BG. Anyone not assigned to a BG or trying to join a BG they aren’t assigned to would get a pop-up message warning them they are joining a BG they were not assigned to join. This doesn’t prevent them from joining, but can potentially help.
From there, clear expectations. Gotta wait until those committed to war join and then players joining here and there can take leftover open spots if they want to participate. Say you have 14 committed, so you assign 7 per BG. Once those 14 are in, open it up to the other 16 in the ally to join if they want to, but not before those assigned have filled. If people can’t follow the simple rules, send them on their way.
Another option would be to have AW be assigned only until 2 hours before the attack phase so you don’t leave yourself short and so those signing up to be committed don’t screw the alliance over by not fulfilling their role.
Regardless of how you set it up, clear expectations, clear communication, and clear and upheld consequences will go a long way.

    You guys are awesome!!
    Thank you for the information.

I'm not even an officer in our group, I just want to help smooth some rough spots.

We have a similar type of situation although the group seems to have a better understanding. 1BG, and about 15 or so willing participants in War. It's hard to enforce but one thing leadership can do is assign people to a Battlegroup. That way they show up in the participants list even before they've joined. It doesn't actually prevent others from joining but can still be a helpful indicator to deter someone who isn't a regular from joining when maybe they shouldn't. Also note that individuals have to participate in 5 Wars to get Season rewards so try and communicate this to people to help them decide if they should join or not cuz if they're only joining 1 or 2 wars a season, they may just be stealing someone's chance at actual meaningful rewards. Communicate with your guys and find ways so everyone understands and is on the same page. It's a great skill to have both in and outside of this game.
