Better r4…Hulkling or Absorbing Man

This will be my 7th r4. I still have Act 8 to work on. I don’t run ouchies.

Hulkling is dupped at sig 20
Absorbing Man is dupped at sig 120

Who would you rank up and why?

They both serve entirely different purposes so it's tough picking just one. Hulkling has his immunity to power drain, burn and steal which is very rare and it is very useful in a lot of matchups. He is tanky as long as you have shapeshift charges and he can end fights really quickly with the sp2. He also has a very simple playstyle.

Absorbing Man on the other hand is immune to armor break and shatter on his base + poison with IBom and can be bleed/shock or incinerate/coldsnap/frosbite immune depending on his current form. That's a total of 8 immunities so he can handle a lot of fights. Damage is also fantastic in his refined form, which also gives him some power control. His ability to deal with indestructible, unstoppable, unblockable and immortality buffs is incredibly useful. The biggest potential issue is that he requires a lot more knowledge of champions' animations and spacing to keep his forms paused.

So my advice is to pick whichever you enjoy playing the most. Also whether your cosmic roster would benefit more than your mystic roster and vice versa

If you run path 9 in AW, then absorbing man just mops up the competition on that path.

Hulkling has a much easier playstyle for all fights than Absorbing man, so I'd really only rank Absorbing man if you enjoy that playstyle of his or need his kits immunities.

IMO Hulkling is the better champion but Absorbingman needs that extra rank more than Hulkling does

Tough choice but you can’t go wrong. You’ve obviously invested in AMs sigs so that may be a good reason to go with him. I’m sure you’ll rank both eventually so I’d go with whichever you think will serve you best in the short term. I prefer AM but it’s real close.

With absorbing man you want to refine his form, which means higher combat power rate is always welcome
Since ranking up 1 rank can add flat 5% to combat power rate, i’d say rank absorbing man

If you’re planning to rank one and then rank the other, I’d rank hulking despite thinking abs man
Benefits from the rank (slightly) more. Abs man may still be rebalanced to be not as good as he currently is and if that’s the case we should know next month. Hulking won’t be rebalanced (unless something unforeseen happens). Hulking is the safer choice to rank up.

Either way I’d suggest to not rank either of them until you’ve explored 8.1. R3 champs should manage and you might get a cosmic rank up gem which you can use on hulking, then rank abs man with your cats.

I just pulled Abs man like a minute ago, as brand new 6 star features, he is good but as mentioned, he requires high spacing and animations knowledge and skill to play around with. Hulking would definitely be my choice, considering i don't have him yet in my roster above 4 stars

Can’t go wrong with either, I’d probably pick absorbing man for the extra combat power rate as others have mentioned. Absorbing man was my third R4 and the extra health combined with his ridiculous resistance allows you to pull some crazy things like eating a full combo and still being above 90% health. But Hulking is a beast and if you use him more than he’d be a great rank up as well.

The 6* can already delete entire health bars with one SP2 into 5 hit combo, 7* would make me actually spend money to get him

Abs man handles so much matchups solely on his own. He’s definetly the better champion because of everything he can do but he is not easy to play. Go for hulkling probably
