Shard collecting strategy.

Does anybody have a strategy or best method of time investment? What I did was invest all of my generic 5* gems on two classes from a class crystal (ie mystic/science) for like 6 months and ONLY spent 5* shards on that 10k crystal when it rotated in. It may feel like a drop in the bucket but I can almost guarantee that my crystals will have a max sig pop out and I've noticed a huge spike in my 6* crystal shard openings. Enough that I'm at 105k 7* since it's inception. Any other strategies y'all use?
