Generic Gem on Kingpin?
Phillip14233
Pulled 6* kingpin. If i awakened him with a generic (i have 2), would be able to get him to sig 60. Is he worthy of a generic?

I know a lot of people are voting yes but he is still very effective without his sig.
There's so many more champs who need awakening.
If you already have a stacked awakened roster then sure, awaken him.

Yes, with the caveat you can get him to sig 65 right away.

He doesn't need awakening, but it does help. However, the awakening benefits don't justify using a GENERIC gem on him. There are many more champs who need awakening more than him.

I know you are getting varied responses and it ultimately falls on you. Kingpin can get through a lot of content - excellent aw defender, strong aw attacker, good on all seasons of battlegrounds, excellent at questing and one of the best all round champs in the game.
He is strong without awakening but benefits a lot from it. Yes there are others who benefit more from awakening but you need to decide whether you would rather take an already strong champion and make him one of the best in the game or would you rather have value for money and take an ordinary champ and make them god/beyond god tier.

AT THIS POINT IN THE GAME yes. Now we get a 6* class gem every other month in side quest and new content. Generics are popping up too. So i would use it no questions asked

I can read your mind, so I just select the answer you want to see.
You can get class AG in loyalty store and SQ now-a-days, so might as well use your generic and enjoy Kingpin and you will get more AGs by the time the next God Tier champ comes along…
Although I would only awaken rank 3+ champs, you don’t want to accidentally dupe him in between rank ups and thereby wasted your AG…

If you use him a lot, yes. Sig 69 ish and he's given an 80% attack boost at the start of the fight.

I’d probably say yes if he’s your first 6* with real potential. He’s going to be a champ you R5 eventually and his sig does make him a lot better, he doesn’t need it, but it certainly is noticeable.
I’m a huge believer in having your best champs awakened and sigged up as you’re using them every day and it makes sense to get the most out of them as soon as possible.

It depends if you like the champion.. it is your account after all... I got lucky in pulling KP, before his buff and after.. one of the champions I am good getting additional sigs.. although he isn't sig200.. he is pretty good sig level.. play him and if you like his playstyle.. use it.. I use my generic awaken gem on NF..

I initially voted "No", because while Kingpin's sig ability is useful, him being unduped is not a gamebreaker in any way. Whenever you bring him into fights where there are a ton of debuffs, he'll work just as well without his sig as he does with it. It's more useful for those fights where there is only a moderate amount of debuffs.
However, then I got thinking. I don't know how you open crystals. For me, I tend to go for featured crystals and when I'm done, save up for the next featured crystal. This means that if I miss out on a champion in the current featured crystal, the chances that I'll see that champ again are very slim since it usually takes ages for them to pop up in a featured crystal again. This means that I can be fairly certain that I won't pull them anytime soon after that featured window closes, which in turn means that I am comfortable using a gem on them.
Even if you're not in a similar situation, there are almost 250 champions in the game so the chances of pulling him anytime soon are pretty slim regardless.
In the end, I would suggest you wait until you've completed this month's SQ. From what I've heard, there's an awakening gem in there somewhere. It would hurt to use a generic gem on Kingpin only to then pull a Skill gem once the rewards are in. I...may, uh...have done something similar last month with Galan.

What is his best rotation? I use him on defense BG but not much on attack, so I'd like to learn more. I have suicides and it seems suitable as he tends to converts debuffs into rages.

I love my kingpin. My first r4 skill champion and a steady aw attacker until this season ban, plus EQ and story mode.
But i wouldn't use a generic on him unless it's a 4* kingpin.
He's quite fine just using the Hood/Joe fixit synergy, and there are other champions like aegon, fury, Hercules etc who need a generic more.
And they're might be new champions in the near future you'll wish you saved it for who need it more.
At least that's how i think of it.

I used a Skill gem on my Kingpin, took him to sig 65, and it made a huge difference. If I had to do it again with a generic gem, I would, especially if I had two generic gems.

In normal conditions,I won't recommend you to use generic ag on kingpin, but provided you already have two,and currently he is your best candidate for generic ag(I believe) you can awaken him.
Also remember you will get another gem soon for act 8.2 exploration,so kp worth it
BigBuster
his awakened ability is so good for making him faster. he's a super meta champ, so there's no harm in maximizing his potential at the cost of one generic gem. and gems are becoming more and more common, so you want to make sure you get value out of the items you have
BigBlueOx
Based on the availability of gems and sigs, I’d pull the trigger get him to sig 65 and be a happy Ox
MIND035
Honestly i have him awakened and he just gets more rage faster, but its entirely up to you, i would use it on nick, but kingpin awakening is good
Timmy2xs
Use it on who u enjoy playing with, period. Doesnt matter what other people think!!
