Got herc dupe and new Valkyrie, which should I choose?

This is from nexus 6* crystal which I'm waiting for you guys to help me decide

Valk is an amazing champ but Herc becomes the greatest when he’s awakened. If you have access to a gem, I’d take Valk and use the gem on Herc

I always choose new champions. It’s easier to awaken with AG. I heard we can get generic from side quest this month?
