With Ascension coming to the game “late,” should 5*s get DOUBLE ascension?

I remember at some point a year or two ago, someone from Kabam said 5*s will never be irrelevant in the game. Since 7*s at r1 are already stronger than a 6*r4, by the time 7*r2s are common, the 5*s will be useless outside arena. If they were to be allowed DOUBLE ascension (whenever it arrives) so a 7/85 as opposed to the current 5/65, that would put them at slightly below a 6*r4 level… that could keep them around in the game another year or two. Between synergies and relics, there would still be a use for players deep into Act 8 content (and possibly beginning of Act 9) to have particular 5* champs on their roster for certain situations.

Yup and they won’t be able to ascend their champs til after they 5/65 anyway. But with the ease of access to 6* shards now, they’re gonna bypass the same 5* roster build up older players had to do. The ascension would mostly be for players who are cav and maybe early Thronebreaker now.

So some players will see use for lower rarities, but progressing in this game is faster than ever so I don't think there will be many players who will ever find a reason to use the Ascension mechanic. Most people are going to use it on 6*'s if the mechanic does come to the game.

People are going to use Ascension for their 6*'s that are Paragon for champs that aren't in the 7* basic pool. We don't know how often and when they'll be adding new 7*'s. I am sure many will jump to ascend Herc because it's likely he won't be a 7* any time soon.

Agree, that’s definitely gonna be the case for most. I’m thinking of people who’ll need it for very specific champs.., like those who haven’t pulled a 6* Torch or Galan especially Kitty/Herc… a double ascended 5* version could be a nice bridge for them.

As for 7* pool, completely guessing, but kabam loves their 90 day windows, so wouldn’t surprise me if this pool remains that long then another batch is added to basic and the initial Titan pool comes at the same time.

This entire argument is based on the assumption that ascension will be good/worth it. If ascension is mid or even bad, what would be the point of double ascension?

How is it late? Unless I missed something, they said it will come out when 7*s start to take over. That makes sense. The mere existence of 7*s in the contest will not do anything to diminish 6*s.

Ascension isn’t late. It is going to be fleshed out more thoroughly when 7* are more prevalent than 6*, which for the foreseeable future is not going to be the case.

A 7R2 is more powerful than a 6R5 on paper, but only if you’re able to sig them too and that’s unlikely right now. Likewise, looking at the pool, none of the 7* are the best in class, let alone in the game as a whole so your 6* Ghost will be relevant for a long time.

In terms of 5*, never is a very long time. They have been relevant to end game players for 5 years and only really dropped off in the last year or so, it’s good for the future of the game for evolution to continue.
