Starting fights locked in a Heavy Attack charge, then no access to Heavy Attack

Playing Arenas, iPhone 6S Plus (I know, I know).
Each time the fight begins, my attacker is frozen charging heavy attack, and no input to get them out of it is recognized, until either the heavy attack is released or my attacker is struck.
Additionally, there is no access to heavy attack at all during the rest of the fight. This feels like a really serious issue, as that means a third of my base attack options have been removed!
