While we have some fond and not so fond memories of competitive and active times with this game, we've found that real life was much more enjoyable when we took a bunch of steps back and went casual.
War: Strictly optional. Really just for milestone event rewards. We win a bit. Get too high and lose for a few. Seems to work. We've been in silver 2 for the past few seasons.
AQ: primarily maps 3x2 and 2x1. Day 1 we do one bg of map 4. That gets us about 3100 or so glory for minimal effort. Master modifiers, heroic on map 3. Map 2 is nice for those with decent champs but a limited roster so they can still bring their best and use them elsewhere. because your champions aren't locked so you can work on hard content with your best Champs. The modifiers keep it interesting and bump up the score. We can easily finish with no waiting on nodes, and bosses with active nodes can be a nice challenge. The more everyone helps, the sooner we all get done and don't worry about logging in more often.
SA: we hold for every other SA. One week on and one week off. Why? Rewards. We generally put up over a million for decent 6* and 5* shards. We have placed in the top 50 a few times. Just a way to try and maximize rewards for doing little work.
We do have a mix of old and new-ish. If you can hang on the master modified map 2 as a newer player, you'll probably earn better rewards than being in a more active lower level alliance. If you're a seasoned vet and want to focus on high to end game content, it's great to do minimal alliance work and keep all of your resources and keep all of your champs free.
