The exploit should not have been there in the first place, for exploiters or not.
The quest was designed, one path for each entry.

You got free stuff for not doing something that shouldn’t have been done in the first place but that free stuff you got for not doing something you shouldn’t have done in the first place is not good enough so you feel entitled to other free stuff for not doing something that you shouldn’t have in the first place….is that about right?

Kabam found it easier to just allow everyone to have the chance to exploit the SQ than to take away whatever everyone got from exploiting it. The rewards aren't game breaking and thus don't need to be taken away. Because they aren't taken away, kabam gave free opportunity to everyone else.

The mythic crystals are game breaking and need to be taken away. No compensation required.
