Game balance and FTP

After 7 years of this game I can truly say that this time Kabam has truly broken the game balance beyond repair.

9 out of 10 battlegrounds matches I am amazed at how every opponent has 1.6m hero rating but 3 7 stars, 3 R5 6 stars, and at least 18 R4 6 stars and all of them dupped.

Unless I am missing something obvious as a FTP player, I have 1 R4 6 star, 2 R3 6 stars and 29 either R2 6 star or R5 5 star champions, played this game for 7 years (1 year break in between), and my best shot at even one R4 is waiting for 3 months and complete every single Event 100% at the highest difficulty too.

I am literally stuck at Superior Kang because it's pointless to beat him without having the 3 R4 6 stars, yet since the amazing PTW July event there are thousands of accounts that don't even know or needed to look at their 4 stars. Meanwhile I was playing the OG Alliance War with my best champ being a dupped 4* Superior Iron Man for his regen and weeping as others cleaned through every AW with a Rogue. In those days people even sold their Nightcrawler to keep him undupped because not many knew how to deal with him.

Now on BG I have to sit through a boring 6 minutes for a loss because if I quit I get no points, and I have no drive for quests unless they have R4 rank materials or gold...

I have no idea if Kabam cares about balance anymore, or if they have any plan to fix the mess they created with this 4th of July event, but if getting that money boost was the most important thing, judging by the amount of R5 and R4 6 stars in small accounts it clearly lined their pockets, but I am sure that the loss of engagement will hurt eventually.

I am sure this will be blocked by admins, since they clearly don't care about FTP players and don't like this being discussed, but I felt I needed to vent after spending the last hour losing BG matches to amass 8000 points in the 400k BG solo event.

You must not be aware you can get a r4 by just doing the t6b and t3a paths in 8.2 like person above said must be a skill research issue cause I never went into content saying eh I don't have the test if the requirements met so I'm just going to skip this boss tell I have it all.

EPO? Is that Eternity of pain, which costs thousands of units to complete and gives you 1/3 of a single R4 resources?

Is the 7 and 8 for the Acts, where Act 7 gives no R4 resources except on extremely hard paths or Act 8 that less than 1/3 R4 resources per Chapter?

Please do enlighten me where these R4 resources for 3 R4s are hidden then.

Although I agree the economy of the game is busted at the moment. Glory store everything is overpriced and outdated and I’m not sure anyone even buys anything from the loyalty store anymore (outside of potions/health/boosts).

But the other side of your argument that you can’t win in Battle grounds because younger accounts have bought their way to higher ranked champions doesn’t really hold weight for me.

Everything that you earn from beating Superior Kang will help you in Battlegrounds. All these new accounts that whaled up, often don’t come with in depth knowledge or higher skill levels yet, so can be beaten by good picks and skill. My advice is grind Apothecary, 100% act 7, you’ll have 1 3-4 rank up. Then 100% 8.1 and you’ll have another. Do Thronebreaker MEQ, to get rank up materials, use the store only for BG resources until you have 3-4 rank up materials and get to paragon. Play the game and rank up your champs. If you’re not going to spend, not going to clear act content, how do expect to build you account? Yes the stores need a buff, but really it’s better to focus on completing the content ahead of you.

Not every FTP is a Brian Grant. We all spent on the game before, but for one reason or another have stopped spending. The difference is that in over 7 years there has never been an event where you could literally purchase a top tier roster...

I'm not a great player, silver 1, and no paths on act 7 or 8 were too hard. You need to do them and also collect the 100% rewards. Then you can stop complaining and you'll have your materials needed. Also, especially if you have Herc, it's not even close to 1000s of revives for EoP, just carina challenges.

Here's 8.2 rewards just as a reminder. Just push Through superior kang and get going.

I'm FTP, paragon, and I got that from Summer of Pain and some act 7 and 8. I used Ultron r3 for Superior Kang.

I probably also got the last few resources from loyalty. It's so much easier now than before; I got paragon 6 months after whales got it (typical lag for ftp IMO). I think I have 12 or so r4s, not close on r5s. As many r3s as I want.

8.2 alone gives a r4 gem for exploration and the path rewards equate to 6 t6b and t3a which is enough for 2 more r4s.

We all spent on the game before, but for one reason or another have stopped spending.

A real FTP has never spent on the game, you're just a retired dolphin if you have spent and don't spend anymore.

Perhaps this is semantics, but spending $25 isn’t a “pay to win” event… sure the rewards difference is quite substantial but it’s not as if people are amassing oodles of r5s and r2s. It’s a no-brainer deal for occasional to moderate spenders for additional rewards at the cost of a decent to good meal at a restaurant

A mindset like this will just never allow you to enjoy the game. I beat Superior Kang for the first time about 48 hours ago and just started 8.2. Been ftp since day one, had 0 rank 4's and 5 rank 3's at the time, now it's 2 rank 4's and 3 rank 3's. I'm about halfway to my last rank 4 and spent 8 revives total on 7.4 and 8.1.

Just play the game, it'll work itself out. The health of the economy is not based off of BGs alone. If you don't enjoy playing, maybe mcoc just isn't for you.

There is a class rank up gem for exploring 8.1 and a generic gem for exploring 8.2, in addition to any fragments you pick up from path rewards. Intentionally not fighting and progressing past Superior Kang seems pretty counter intuitive to your issue.

Additionally, I'd recommend taking advantage of the glory store to gain more R3 materials. Expanding your roster is going to help you significantly more in virtually every aspect of the game than rushing to only have a few champs at the highest rank.

I know it's forbidden to post account names here, but I looked at the last ten fights and all the accounts had about half of my total quests completed, less than 1000 daily quest, non-existent Arena activity, almost no AW MVPs, Gold 1 to 3 alliances, sub-2m accounts, yet they have max Sig R5 6 star champs in the profile and at least 3 7 stars. I can give account names on message if you don't believe me.

That is not grinding, that is plain and simple purchasing.

Thanks for the pointer, but I already do that and the price for those on TB gets very little resources per season, particularly with the 15k point cap.

Being that this is the forums and not the game, the MODs could care less about whether someone is F2P or spends money. They're here to moderate the forums. As long as your post doesn't break forum rules, it won't go away.

The only way this is possible, is that you do not play the game much. You're very casual. It sound like you have very little in terms of content progression because T5CC are everywhere and if you're moderately decent in placing in AQ, it's a never ending supply of T5B and T2A. Plus the MEQs and SQs have given tons, and tons of rank up mats just for r3's.

This isn't a case of F2P being out gained by a P2W player but a case of not ready for anything challenging. It's baffling that you're 7 years in and only have 2 R3's.

This game has always been P2W. To be at the top, you have to pay and have skill (hint everyone that makes it to GC early can play).

Your problem, however is that you’re not finishing content. Sitting and pouting at superior Kang is not the way to go. You’re giving up on so many progression items and screwing yourself.

OK. Let me put it in simpler terms. If the only way to progress in a mobile game was to pay, the publisher would not be making millions of dollars a year.
