Alliance War - New Join Can't Place Even After Next War

So we had someone join the alliance in the middle of war. No worries, just place for the next war but he can't. Even when new matchmaking began and it cycled to a new war, it still will not allow him to place defenders despite his spot being "assigned". It just says Assigned at the bottom instead of "Join".

I thought persistent placement would change even the need to wait a war. So is it waiting two wars now for the persistent thing to catch up to new members?

Note, in the alliance someone LEAVES from, those already-placed persistent defenders evidently do NOT actually get cleared out until the very next Matchmaking actually happens.
Then at that time, the alliance gets the normal AW popup but with additional wording that says “so and so people's defenders have been removed, etc, etc, can’t remember the wording”

So I guess that would disallow them from placing their defenders (even if different defender champs) in new alliance.

Solution (although, too late after they already left alliance) is to FIRST go into their old Ally’s defense and REMOVE themselves from defense, PRIOR to leaving that alliance.
Then, when they join new alliance, their defenders would not still be (pseudo-locked) in older alliance.

Game should probably automatically remove their (next-war, persistent) defenders from old alliance upon actually leaving the alliance, not just once new matchmaking starts.
ALSO, even if that person was still joined in the old alliance's current war, that should NOT prevent them from setting up their persistent defense in their new alliance FOR THE NEXT WAR.

I figured it had something to do with this ... just crazy. So in essence two war cycles have to be done before the game will "reset" to the new alliance makeup assuming people have recently joined.

This has been raised and they are looking into it @Hippolita . Was your member able to join the BG?

Multiple members in our alliance have been unable to join AW. I have been in our alliance for years and the only difference in our situations is moving from BG2 to BG1. I can join BG2 or BG3, but we are only running one group. Kabam support didn’t help me at all. I’m getting crickets as to a fix. Probably cost us the last 3 wars.

I’m having this issue as well right now. I’m trying to switch battle groups because my alliance has switched to just 1 BG, but it won’t let me place in the new BG I want to join. I’ve removed myself from the old BG and multiple matches have cycled through. But when I try to place my hero’s the “begin” button does nothing

Anyone have an answer to defender placement issues. I joined during a current war and now the war is over but I can’t place.
