No apothecary-like replacement this time?
Today we got yet another incredible announcement from dev team about nerf of consumables drop rates in act 5. Greedy move that a lot of players anticipated since Kabam is consistent with their malicious reputation at this point.
In act 5 there were several farming points, but majority of community is familiar with 5.3.6 - place to farm energy refills. It was used by many to sustain stash of energy refills to use in bg and story content. And Kabam acknowledges it.
Quotes from announcement:
"Without these changes, a number of quests would have been problematic, including one that had the potential to become an infinite energy loop as the quest returns on average more energy in refills than it takes to complete."
"We held off on making these changes so long as these farming quests still required substantial effort to take advantage of."
Okay, so what's the problem in designing new content where people could farm refills in a way that requires effort, yet rewards players with enough resources to satisfy their needs?
When kabam decided to drop hammer on 3.2.6 they immediately followed up with Apothecary - poor substitution for amazing revive farming quest, yet substitution nonetheless.
This time we don't even have any minor announcements for replacement. And i guess i know why. Kabam is not welcoming any FTP players and wants everyone to be in dire need for basic resources at all times, in order to monetize every part of the game.
Only this time result will be in drastic decrease of engagement of active playerbase, who used those farming methods to simply play more of this game and most notably more of battlegrounds.
