So is 7* Silver Surfer any good for BGs?

OakenshieldOakenshield Member Posts: 2,755 ★★★★★
Just pulled this guy.

I know he is underrated and good for prestige (which I don’t care about), but is he any good for BG’s? I’ve got all the usual suspects already in Cosmic at R4+ (Herc, Hulkling, Galan, CGR, Sersi) and already have 7* Gamora and Venom.

I’m not thinking he is better than any of them so don’t see him earning a spot in my deck, but if I’m wrong please let me know.

@Wicket329 I think I remember you being a fan of him in BG’s, right?

All I know is that he is good for BGs, but you're going to need to ask someone else to give you the why.

Something to do with his utility/rotation makes him really good iirc but i cant remember exactly what it is. We need a surfer expert to elaborate

I don't do BGs, but I run my 7* in AQ frequently and his dmg did surprise me. People always call him a noodle, but he doesn't seem like one to me tbh. Solid champ; good dmg, good utility, short ramp up, etc. Might be worth a slot, depending on the nodes.

Idk about BGs, but a 7* Silver Surfer is certainly great for prestige.

I have one, been using him in BGs and even AW for middle hazard shift and path 9 since he heals from shock and incinerate and they count as buffs for the rest of his abilities, he's really really good and one of the most underrated 7* in my opinion. First, if you're expecting huge numbers I'll tell you right now you won't see any, his main source of damage are his bursts of energy damage (for each unique buff) which also aren't anything too crazy, the thing is these bursts happen with every single attack you land so the damage just keeps piling up and he just melts anything that doesn't have energy resistance pretty fast basically.
As for how to use him what I like to do is immediately go for heavy as soon as the match starts for the power rate buff, once rotating buffs are back sp1 while fury buff is selected to gain two furies, once they're back again heavy charge sp2 while armor buff is selected to gain armor + unblockable and fights usually over after that. I know this rotation probably sounds a bit long but due to the power rate buff it actually only takes about 40-50 seconds.
My advice, try him out and see if you like his playstyle first cause the goal is to always keep all three types of buffs up. Is he good for BGs though? Absolutely, he has the damage and some utility.
Ps. Yes, he's currently second highest 7* prestige in the game lol.

@ItsClobberinTime Thanks for the helpful post including the info on his rotation. Will give it a try!

Silver Surfer has take -100% to shock, incinerate and frostbite and quite high energy resistance.. if you have fury, armor up and combat power rate buff.. and use sp2 he gains unblockable.. in Event Quest, AW, if there is Bishop, Havok, Peni Parker or incinerate attackers.. I bring SilverSurfer.

It depends on the battleground meta.. not sure with crit me.. but I did win with him vs Bishop a few times.. that was not in current battleground season thou.

No problem, hope it helps! I've nuked down a lot of 7* Korgs and Shuris really fast with him in BGs I think he's definitely worth adding to your deck. Another thing I forgot to mention (if you aren't in GC yet) he's great for this meta because he doesn't need to parry to land a heavy, when the power cosmic buff is active and you charge heavy you get a phase buff which is pretty nice, and also vigilance on sp1 so he can handle miss as well, he's a solid champ.

He has decent damage but adds almost nothing to defense except the occasional catching attacker off guard on Sp2
Even in attack he would be decent but not fast enough to compete in most cases

He hits hard as a 7*, but I'm not sure if that is enough to put him in an already established deck
If u still have a deck that lacks R4s or 7*s, then add him for a while & see if he works for u

Not sure about how important his sig ability is, but my 6* has the damage output to clear fights very rapidly. I used him a lot in matchups like Peni before I’d gotten proper counters. Once you get his playstyle down, you’ll see really good damage potential out of him.

Surfer needs high sig to have good prestige. Gambit is much better for a lot of players because of his extremely high prestige at low sig

I’m using it in BG on attack and he’s pretty good… I won a few battle versus tech and even human torch
