War offense in different map than defense

I've never seen this before but in our current match, our offense is fighting on a higher level map than our defense. Has anyone else noticed this?

Are you sure you are looking at the correct Defense Map ?

Looking at Defense (View Defense from within your attack map, from the drop-down current war status box on upper-right corner of attack map screen) with the opposing side's attackers visible and progressing through your defense.
And not looking at the Persistent Placement Setup defense map ? (middle map based on your War Rating Tier, not necessarily the map you matchmaked on against a team on the next higher/lower map, and coin-flipped to play on THEIR map for this war).

Yes I'm sure, I see their team and where they are and they are fighting us on the bluish intermediate map with us fighting them on the higher ranked lava sort of map
