AW Season 44: New Map and Rewards Update!

Foreword

This has been a long time coming, but we have another massive update for Alliance War. We’ve not only had a chance to look at streamlining the Alliance War Map for all difficulties, but we’ve gotten a chance to give Alliance Wars a new Reward update, we’ve enabled Relics for Alliance War, and let’s not forget about the new Defense Tactic that’s dropping at the same time! This is a massive update, so let's get into the nitty gritty details.

New Map, New Flow!

As we discussed before, we’ve decided to give the map a new structural facelift to eliminate the choke points that the players were encountering before. This was a burden for Alliances that strategized with timezones in mind, and blocked the flow for a lot of players. For example, mini bosses have been moved away from the bottleneck in the middle, and have been grouped together towards the end of the map while path fights have been grouped in their own pod. Here is a look at the first maps at Intermediate and Higher.

The identities of these fights have been tuned, but have not been changed. So your Path 1 Healing Lane still remains, and the Purify Lane is still where it is currently. However, some of those nodes have gotten some buffs, as well as health bumps to compensate for the nodes we removed. We’ll go over the tuning changes in a bit, but let’s show you what is past these path islands. It’s what players refer to as Mini-Boss Island. Passed that is Boss Island. This is the main flow change from the past iteration of maps.

Easy / Normal



As you can see, all the harder bosses are packed in together. However, you’ll notice that traversing the mini-boss island, and the final boss island has changed with teleporters. Now, instead of having to go through multiple mini-bosses in a row to get to the next section, players now have a choice in how they tackle this. They can defeat one Mini-Boss and go straight to the Final Boss Island, or they can take on three mini-bosses at the same time before they go to the Final Boss Island. It all comes down to how you want to organize your fights, giving a bit of agency to Alliance Attacks.

As for node tuning, with the removal of some plain Mini-Bosses and some old designs that needed a face lift, the following nodes have been given a tuning update with help from our internal Balancing Team. Please note, these nodes are for Expert Maps. Other Map Buff Profiles will be shared out in a Forum Post.

NOTE: We do need to call this out, as Shock Immunity seems like a strange thing to add onto here. Nebula was one of the best counters on this node. Smart play, but with little to no counter play for the Defending Alliance, we decided to defang her specifically on this node.

Path 6, we deemed, needed the most balancing as this lane was dominated by the release and use of Nimrod. This wasn’t our intent, and it makes placing Defenders on this lane a very tough chase. So as a result, we created a series of buffs meant to take the wind out of Nimrod, to allow Mutant Defenders to breathe.

The new buffs that will come with this update will be as follows…

Insurance Policy (Power) - 3
If the Attacker removes Prowess Effects from the Defender, the Defender gains a burst of 50% of a Bar of Power.

Insurance Policy (Flourish) - 3
If the Attacker removes Prowess Effects from the Defender, the Defender will gain a Flourish Buff, increasing their Combat Power Rate by 25% for 15 seconds. Max stack of 10.

Bandaid Solutions (Energy Resistance) - 3
For each Shock applied to the Defender, Debuff or Passive, the Defender gains an Energy Resistance Passive, increasing Resistance by 60% for 20 seconds.

Bandaid Solutions (Direct Damage) - 3
For each Shock applied to the Defender, it will grant them a dormant charge that can stack up to 5 times. If the Defender throws a Special, all those charges will be converted into Direct Damage, each dealing 25% of the Defender Base Attack to the Attacker.

That’s a lot to take in, so instead of reading a long list of changes that can go on forever, here is a link to an Excel Sheet that has every node available to you in one concise list.

Defense Tactic Tuning

New season, and a new round of meta defining Defense Tactics that will surely give Mystics another bump in usage for this new season coming out. The following Attack and Defense Tactics will be coming to you shortly in Season 44!

Attack: Decay
Attackers are immune to Placebo Buffs. Whenever they trigger a Buff immunity inflict a 20% Wither Debuff on the Opponent lasting 8 seconds Max: 5. Attackers gain 35% Resistance to Damage over time effects for each Debuff on the Defender. When the Defender is knocked down there is a 25% chance per Debuff active on them to inflict a 10 second Slow Debuff.

Defense: Sugar Pill
Sugar Pill - 1:
Making contact with the Defender has a 100% Chance to grant the Attacker an 12 second Placebo buff MAX: 5. At max charges Buffs will refresh themselves instead of reapplying a new one. Whenever a Buff Expires or is nullified from the Opponent 15% Chance for the Defender to gain an Unstoppable Passive lasting 5 seconds.

Making contact with the Defender has a 100% Chance to grant the Attacker an 12 second Placebo buff MAX: 5. At max charges Buffs will refresh themselves instead of reapplying a new one. Whenever a Buff Expires or is nullified from the Opponent 20% Chance for the Defender to gain an Unstoppable Passive lasting 5 seconds.

Whenever a Buff Expires or is nullified from the Opponent 33% Chance for the Defender to gain an Unstoppable Passive lasting 5 seconds.

One other thing that we are updating is the amount of Defense Tactics available in the Challenger Tier. For this tier, we are reducing the 3 Defense Tactics, to 1 Defense Tactic to better focus the experience and eliminate redundancies. The number of Attack Tactics, however, will not be reduced.

New Update, New Rewards!

We have decided to inject some juicy rewards into the Alliance War Season 44 for the upper tiers. From 7 Titan Hero Shards, to Relic Shards, this is the mode that you want to focus on to get your hands on Powerful Champions, as well as Relics to back your champions up. All new reward updates are highlighted in bold.

Loyal Store Update!

We have decided to focus the Loyalty store on Champion Acquisition, Awakening and Sig Stones moving forward. We have added an exclusive 7* crystal and reduced the price of Awakening and Sig Stone materials to promote this change in direction. The price of rank up materials remains unchanged, though we have consolidated the store items so lower progressions will have better prices in some cases.

Changes to Loyalty store consumables will follow with our consumable update.

A note from the game team (Sept 15):
With the recent adjustments to Alliance War maps, we have eliminated the ability for Alliances to eliminate the Defense Tactic from the Final Boss node, a strategy known as Boss Rushing. Boss Rushing was never a strategy we intended to enable or encourage and we will be updating the Defense Tactic Descriptions to avoid confusion.

Note (Sept 28th): Fixed the rewards for Gold placement - The Nexus Crystals were never meant to be Class Nexus Crystals
