How the heck did that happen? About Abs man

So I was fighting Abs man in war, now, he should work in that way that the first time he triggers any form its in its normal state and only after activating it again while its still up, he refines the form... right? Right...
But there it didn't happen
The FIRST time he activated the Magma form it was refined, and I didn't pay attention and died

I have noticed this bug. When i activate magma form once in a fight and then on next fight i don't activate anything, he starts with refined magma form. But wasn't sure.

When he is at 600 morph charges, on special attacks he consumes them all to refine his current form
