How is this fair?

I was going through battlegrounds for my last ascension objective, and I matched up with this guy. For context, I have 8 7 stars. I actually felt bad for him? And how did he reach platinum II?

They could have gotten there and reworked their deck. You can't make an assumption that what's displayed are the exact champs used through out their climb up the victory track.

When someone find an account like this on Platinum is luck.

Im currently diamond IV and found one legend summoner oriental guy, that simply picked the worst champs from his roster and of course lose to me. We exchange tons of Loki laugh emote.

Some other legends simply click on forfeit (if they didn't won before)

But there's a case that someone do this to be on Plat 2(or another grade) forever, doing like this=
    - Win over someone normally, get the victory badge
    - Lose next match on purpose
    - Win next
    - Lose next

    See? And receives BG rewards...

I ask the same question for every Thronebreaker I'm encountering still in Silver III on week three of this season. "Why are you still down here? You have a roster that freaking dwarfs my own and there's limited chance I win this fight." But it never fails the minute after I get a win, I'm always matched up with thronebreakers.

Well, luck sort of, but not really. Low progress accounts are more or less protected from really high match ups until P3. Which means a lot of low progress accounts make it to P3. Meanwhile, most high progress accounts have already promoted out of P3 to higher tiers. Which means there are more low progress accounts in P3 than you would otherwise expect. Every time one of them matches against another one, one of them has to win. It only takes three wins to promote, so more low progress accounts than you might otherwise expect will make it to P2. And then P1, and to a lesser extent higher tiers.

Being TB or Paragon doesn't mean you're any good at the game. I'm Paragon and I constantly have 7, 8, or 9 match losing streaks in BG. Good roster means nothing when you suck lol.

Some people also don't bother doing BGs until late in the season, some deliberately (to get the big dogs out of the lower tiers) or because, like me, we suddenly realise that we need to do more to get the objectives

i’m one of those people. i get bored with bg pretty quickly so i really only do it for quick resources so that’s probably the case for the other tb you’re facing
