100% blade. I remember everyone saving all their 5* shards for his featured crystal months in advance. Dude shut down the most difficult defenders, had the most insane bleed damage and phenomenal sustainability during a time revives were more scarce, which was really good for AQ at the time too, back when it actually mattered to have a good team. Additionally he was among the best synergy team at the time in the Holy Trinity which cleared all the games content basically.

There were/are so many best champs depending on the context. When Aegon came out he became completely prized for his ability to run LOL, but outside of that he was a bit meh.

Blade completely broke the meta of Mystic defenders (Magik & Dormammu), and started the trend of the synergy trio with Stark Spidey and Ghost Rider.

12.0 rebalance was required because of how broken Thor, BW, and SW were; and poor Dr Strange got horribly hurt in the cross-fire.

Overall though - and I regretted my choice when I properly read the others - it has to be Scarlet Witch. She was so horribly broken, especially with the full mutant crit-rate synergy team, that you could basically run your phone on your backside and win everything with her. I explored Act 4 with her 3*, and it was EASY!

People here talking about Blade and the "blade trinity", while forgetting another trinity (more like duo) that ruled the game: Scarlet Witch (4*), Dr. Strange (4*), Dr. Strange (3*).
DS would get 100% (!!!) block proficiency. 100%. He had healing, damage, passive power gain, mystic dispersion.
And then there's SW. You know how people say now "just Herc it"?. Before that they were saying "just ghost it" or "just quake it". Well, the original saying was "just use SW".
While the kabam slowly moved away from blade, quake, ghost and at some point Herc by simply releasing champs and nodes that counter them, well, for Scarlet Witch they had to completely redesign how the game works (12.0 update will live in infamy).
Nothing could stop Scarlet Witch in her day. Kabam waited years after 12.0 to even release her as a 5*. I think they tweked her kit a bit too, just to ensure she wouldn't brake the game even post 12.0.

Definitely Doom. From his release in 2019 to now, he's always been on top of everyone else. It's been 4 years, and he still holds strong at the top, comparable to the likes of champions like Hercules right now and Blade back in the day.

I don't see ghost here. Ghost is the reason people were able to complete the most difficult content in the game - pre nerf act 6. Quake is too risky and prone to mistakes, but The ghost synergy team is way way better than blade Trinity. Also every player had ghost in her team in 2019-2020s

Anyone that was around pre-12.0 knows that it was almost humorous with her. A Rank 4 4-star Switch was more powerful than many 6-4 champs now.

She had a 100% chance to proc her veil ability and her stun chance/duration, regeneration chance, and power lock chance were all very high. You’d basically be able to stay at 100% health permanently while constantly stun locking and power locking the opponent, while you gained massive amounts of fury and crit and basically turned your opponent into a potato. She’d crit pretty much all the time and she (along with Thor) made the whole game a cakewalk

I’m genuinely surprised people are saying Ghost/Herc/Doom/Blade over SW. SW trivialized everything and there isn’t a single champ that came after that is a cheat code like she is. Doom is a great mystic, but he couldn’t do even half of what Pre 12.0 SW could do. Same with everyone else, though Herc is the closest cheat code we’ve had since

SW from this list but OG Thor needed the whole game mechanics changing due to his power. If he was around today he'd still be the best champ in the game, could kill anything in a few hits.

Scarlet witch was stupidly OP and was part of a small group that forced an entire rework of the game.

Quake forced a rethink of champion release strategy at higher rarity, what she was to 5*, Herc will do to 6*.

He’s not even close to herc has no way to prevent dog that he’s not immune to or passive/direct damage

Blade should win this hands down.

Others were (or still are) more broken, yes. But Blade didn't need to be awoken and he certainly didn't need a high sig. When Blade was released he shut characters down. He shut nodes down. He was a force all on his own but if you also had Ghost Rider and Starky? The game was yours. They legitimately stopped tagging characters as #Villain and #DimensionalBeing in efforts to negate Blade's effectiveness.

In terms of "best champion for their time" Blade wins this. Star Lord, Herc, SW are all contenders for sure. Corvus, Starky, Doom... all were the best of their time. But Blade stands out above them IMO. When he was released, the other champions around him weren't nearly as impactful, the same can't be said about the others.

Keep in mind Kabam had to overhaul the game code to deal with OG Scarlet Witch and OG Thor. Heck Doc Strange too.

Scarlet Witch did all of ROL for me, during the dark ages of 4* r1 being top champ.

Scarlet Witch could do all available content back then.
You can't make that argument for anyone else in the poll, even Hercules.
So because of the "at their time" limitation of the poll, SW is the answer in my opinion 🙂
