Do you know why you're getting that match? It isn't because the match maker is giving you unusually hard matches. It is because it has been giving you unusually easy matches. From Bronze to Gold (and really up to P3) the match maker goes out of its way to find matches closer to your roster strength. This is far weaker than the average player is likely to be at higher VT tiers. If the match maker was completely fair, it wouldn't go out of its way to find easy matches. It would simply force you to face whoever was in your tier, no matter how strong. You would have faced much harder competition in Gold and probably even Silver. You would have never made it to Platinum to face those accounts, because you would have lost to lower players than that sooner.

The game does not match by prestige per se, but to put it another way you shouldn't have faced 6k, 6k, 6k, 6k, 6k, 6k, 6k and then suddenly 15k. You should have faced 6k, 8k, 9k, 10k, 11k, 12k, 14k, 15k. Is that what you would prefer?

Take the easy wins, take the VT rewards, and be happy. Or complain about the unfair broken match system until maybe one day, when the devs get fed up with the complaints, someone decides to start giving you actually completely fair blind matches where you have to face everyone.

At this point, maybe we need the threat of that actually happening to get the majority of low roster players who are benefiting from the current system to get off the side lines and tell the players complaining about it to simmer down.

Lol, chill dude, defending Kabam like they’re your meal ticket. My last 10 matches have all been 9k prestige or above. Won some and lost some. But at least I had an actual chance in those. Going up against 15k plus prestige, I have zero chance no matter how perfectly I play, I won’t be taking more than 20% Health off champs at that level. The game then simply ceases to be about skill and is only about rating, where’s the fun in that? Also, the matchmaking system does what it was designed to do. It doesn’t “go out of its way” to help or hinder me.

Well, it was designed to give you that matchup above, so it sees to be working fine.

I actually suggested this sort of participation encouraging system during closed beta. And I also suggested refining it in my Battlegrounds manifesto, of which Kabam ended up more or less adopting all of my suggestions, albeit with some modifications.

So it is less me defending Kabam's design, and more I simply understand how the mode works and is intended to work reasonably well. I'm simply informing you of why what you are seeing is not a bug and not a mistake and in fact a deliberate if not directly intentional consequence of how the system works. The system does in fact go out of its way to help you in the lower tiers, because it is designed to do so. That's what roster matching is explicitly designed to do. I believe I can speak fairly knowledgeably about that intentionality.

Also, I sometimes wish there was a "chill, dude" flag on the forums, so I could start collecting those. I often wonder if the people who "chill dude, yada yada yada Kabam apologist" people bang that one out of desperation and are hoping someone actually comes along and gives them a high five, or if they sit back with a smug smile on their face and nod, like they just put the last brush stroke on the Mona Lisa.

The system does what it’s designed to do based on its code. It can’t go out of its way to give me “easy wins” as that would be outside of the code. All I’m asking is they design the matchmaking system so that each summoner at least has a chance to win and it is a skill based challenge and not biggest roster wins. I often wonder if people who attempt to bully and attack others for simply pointing out what they see as a problem do so to make themselves feel better about their lives.

You have a chance to win every match. You just don't have a equal chance to win every match. You're in GC, these are appropriate matchups for your tier.

It is coded to give you easier matchups until you reach a certain point. That will result in easier wins.
I have two accounts. My smaller alt account always has an easier time making it to platinum.

You're always going to have easier Wins because you're a more experienced Player behind a second Account. That's the bit that people keep forgetting to add.

I wouldn't say "easier" matchups but in VC, you're matched with opponents similar to yourself. In GC, its just anyone within that bracket. You can still lose matchups against someone who is equal to you in VC.

Maybe OP has a point here. If I only had to face rhe opponent's roster of similar strength. I could make it to GC a lot faster and I could than climb the GC ladder higher thus giving me more rewards for less grinding. Since my skill level is only average, I don't want to play against anyone that is better than me. Why we are added, I would like to make sure that the champs the opponent has is the same as my roster, it's not fair that the opponent has newer and better champs ranks up that and I don't have proper counters for. Let smake my life and OP's life easier in BG and implement these changes ASAP. I keep seeing these familiar faces at the top. It's Morbin time afterall so it's time for a change.

Now if only my boss would use OP's idea, I want to get paid the same as a highest paid person on Earch since it's not fair I get paid so much less for my hard work and effort.

Let's try this again. The match maker is not designed to give "each summoner at least a chance to win." Because the goal is to find the strongest competitors. That includes roster, skill, knowledge, strategy, everything. The match maker is designed to do two separate things. First, it is designed to encourage participation by restricting matches for players, looking for players with similar progression level and roster strength. This encourages participation by giving lower progress players an environment that protects them from having to face the strongest players in the game, and makes it far more likely for them to win far more often than they would otherwise. This penalizes stronger players who essentially have to fight against statistically stronger competition, but this is seen as a reasonable compromise to encourage participation.

However, this cannot persist indefinitely, because if it does that would mean players would be reaching higher and higher VT tiers, and then the Gladiator Circuit, and then the high tiers of the Gladiator Circuit, without actually having to face the strongest players in the game. It doesn't matter if the most skilled player in the world is currently playing a tiny Uncollected account. Battlegrounds is not looking for the fastest twitch muscles in the world. Battlegrounds is a competition looking for the strongest players period. Like it or not, that includes roster strength, because Battlegrounds like all MCOC game modes is intended to encourage roster growth. So progression and roster strength matching phases out over time, and by the time a player reaches Platinum 2 or thereabouts they are no longer protected from stronger players. They must now match against everyone in their tier just like everyone else.

Because lower strength players have been playing a distorted version of the mode where everyone else stronger than them is actually invisible, many lower strength players will get the impression that the whole point of BG is for them to play against only players similar to them, so that the best of their peers can rise to the top. However, that's not what BG is about. BG is about finding the strongest players period, and once they get past P2 they must match against and beat everyone, stronger, weaker, everyone.

This is all by design. Perfectly fair would be if there was no VT, and everyone had to match against everyone else by ELO. That is how competitions like this work basically everywhere else. The roster strength matching that the match maker performs at lower tiers is not a fair competition system, because it is not intended to be. It is intended to allow for lower strength players to participate basically in a sheltered environment. But that shelter extends only so far.

If you think that the sheltered environment should be extended all the way to the top, because "everyone" should have a chance to get to the very top, well the game and its designers disagree with you. Maybe you also think Major League Baseball should have a salary cap like the NFL because that is the only way to run a fair league. But the world doesn't have to follow your rules. The definition of "fairness" here is not "Let everyone have an equal chance at rising to the top." That is unfair to players who have spent time, energy, and money to build their rosters. Here, fair is everyone fights everyone else, and the strongest player as determined by who beats who in competition, rises to the top. And everyone else falls in line below.

That's not bullying. That's competition. If you want to beg the developers to change it, that is your prerogative. However, this is highly unlikely to happen, because they simply don't agree with your sense of fairness. If anything, they might one day make a restricted queue where players can run more even decks, but that would be completely isolated from the main competition and almost certainly have vastly lower rewards, if any.

I personally find Gold 1 to be the most painstaking grind. Plat and Vibranium are nothing compared to it - rather, what it used to be now that with seeding I don’t really have to worry about it.

But that’s just because the pool was so large and diverse. Especially because I pushed right away, instead of being patient and waiting until the people much better than me were out of the bracket.

Remember that just because your rating or MMR is similar to someone else, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re both evenly matched in skill or roster, because like you, that person is just moving through the brackets.
