Hercules Awakened ability not working in alliance war?

I was using Hercules in alliance war against a Medusa on hazard shift and I had 2 shocks on me and an armor break and rather than activating immortality he just died but when I tried the fight again his immortality worked fine is there a reason his immortality didn’t activate the first time? I can't find anything that would lower his ability accuracy and his AA says damage that would knock him out so it should proc on anything that's not a special 3 yet he still died without activating it. Does anyone else have an idea as to how this happened? (yes my herc is awakened sig 69 no that's not intentional I just don't have anymore sigs right now)
