Cannot enter alliance war

in Bugs and Known Issues
Every time I go to enter troops in an alliance war I get the same message “an error occurred, please try again later”

    Make sure you are not placed in Defense in a different BG from trying to join on offense.
    Buttons would seem to indicate that is possible, but you get that error message instead.
