Why herc to R5?

I've seen so many people ranking herc to R5 and acsending him, because he apparently isn't coming out as a 7 star (rightly so)
But why?
Wouldn't someone like Galan or CGR benefit more from the rank up and attack increase and combat power rate increase?
Edit: Also anything you can herc with a R5 ascended, you could probably also herc with a R4 albeit with a couple more revives probably. Is that not the case?

A large part of that reason is precisely what you said, he's likely to never see a 7* any time soon. Maybe when we get 9*.

Isn't it the point of a rankup ? To spend less revives ?

Am extra rank on CGR, Galan or Hercules does exactly the same thing, saving you future resources. And I prefer to bet my money on Herc

I ranked up shang chi and mojo and invested 200 sigs, now I am going to open my first tian crystal soon, I'm praying to not get shang chi, because if I get him,it will be a waste of resources on my 6* (obviously he helped me a lot, but after getting a 7* I don't have much use with him).
But with herc who certainly never gonna get released as 7* (or might be the last champ to enter the pool), I can rank him up without any fear.

I'm damn sure when they conduct the next poll for players to decide titan pool,cgr, galan or hulkling will be on the options (Although galan unlikely)

I had posed a Titan pool question earlier, and the consensus was that Player Polls was just to create the starting pool, and that there will not be player polls going forward.

The 6 champions that enter the Titan pool are 4 new ones (two months worth) plus two old ones.

Nobody voted on Jabari and Spider-Ham to join the four new champions that just joined the Titan pool.

So what that means is Kabam has total control over whether the powerhouse cosmics will make it as 7-stars.

To OP’s question - Ascension is not just a wager of who won’t become a 7-star, but it also lets you continue to use your old champions as Defender nodes and HP’s increase. As of right now, you are correct that R5 Ascension just saves you on revives, but as the months go on, it will also save you on the champion becoming as ineffectual as Vision’s pillow hands. This will save you on rank up materials in the future, as you don’t have to rank an undesirable 7-star cosmic to be able to handle content; you can save those resources for when you finally pull a 7-star Cosmic you like while you continue to use an ascended Herc.

I mainly use him with Immortality for Zone 25 Runs. You can’t keep him at good health there basically + many Hacks help him during Unblockable.

And that's what I can't do consistently. I squeeze any amount of will power from any fight I can. Immortality cheesing is not my thing. I'm just not good at it.

Some screenshots from the run I did last week. And no I did not get strategic or stun cheese hacks. I prefer my champs healthy and well nutritioned.
