How can I link Apple ID to kabam ID

have always logged into the game via apple gamecenter. I would like to create a kabam account and connect it to the gamecenter so as not to lose the progress of the game. I tried to do this but I can't connect them. The kabam account starts me as new and I lose all the progress of my main profile
