Returning veteran question about arenas and Dr. doom?

First off all it's been YEARS. Lost access to my old account and starting fresh.

There is to be a beginners bracket for hero Arenas. Does that no longer exist?

And already a 4 star Dr Doom, which I thought was great. Now I've been told he is no good anymore...is this true?

Who told you the best mystic champ in the game isnt good lol. If it was global chat turn it off. Also the beginner bracket still exists as far as i know

Doom’s very strong, these days 4 stars aren’t going to be top of your roster for very long though.

He’s very tanky, use L1 for power steal and the L2 for incinerate damage, he is a lot weaker if they’re immune to shock, since he needs the shocks to set up his heavies

Unfortunately he's not recoil friendly, so if you run those masteries awakened Diablo is more usable

I think there still is a beginners bracket, but I don't remember what it is after the last arena refactor (the one that collapsed the arenas into their current three arena structure).

Doom is still great, it is just that there have been so many great mystic champs added since he was added to the game that it is more of a contest (pun intended). Moreover, since you were last playing the game has shifted from content just being bigger and harder hitting opponents to more complex nodes and effects that require counters. So because we now have content that sometimes strongly rewards power control, sometimes rewards buff control, sometimes rewards damage over time, sometimes requires buffs or debuffs or whatever, the question of which champ is "the best" or even "very good" is a lot more debatable.

Which is actually kind of a good thing really. When everyone agreed (mostly) on which champs were the best and which were the worst, that was kind of boring. Now that everyone has a different opinion, and a lot of them are equally valid, that means the game itself is a lot more interesting.

Even with sucides, awakened diablo is not in par with doom. He is cool, but doom is duel threat, and you can work around sucides by playing a little slow
