Hi Kabam Jax (and anyone else who wants to read this),
I have been a big player in this game for around a year and a half. I have thoroughly enjoyed every part of it and have even managed to become paragon while being Free to play. My little brother noticed me playing a lot so I introduced him to the game. I've guided him to become an uncollected summoner and his skills have greatly increased, and he feels very passionate about the game. I started telling him about the banquet event, and he got very excited. He ground units and started theorizing about his pulls. Now I'm in an alliance where we do the banquet event big. We got all the milestones yesterday. So I asked the leader if he could join the alliance for the banquet. He said yes and my brother was added to the alliance on December 7. However, when the banquet rolled around my brother spent all of his units and bought GBC. However, he didn't get the alliance milestones. I spoke with Kabam support and they were very unhelpful, saying that they can't reverse it or something like that. But I've been tuning into the live streams daily and I've realized how much you care about your community and I really hope you can try to help me and my brother.

There would have been (maybe still is) a Countdown Timer indicating that on his Alliance Event screen.
After countdown timer ends, he will be free to do some more crystals that will start to count towards event. (Just NOT any of the ones he did prior to Countdown Timer ending.)
*There are still some Crystals from the Accolades Event Milestones that he will still be able to earn for free, that he can open once Timer ends, as well as final day of Calendar. For at least *some* points.
I'm going to say something harsh here, but I feel compelled to do so. This game is not a totally casual game, because you can spend money on it, you can grind resources in it, and you can make permanent spending decisions in it. There's even technically an age limit to playing it. It is very easy to make mistakes that erase tons of effort and generate disappointing results, and if you are going to introduce a younger player to the game, it is your responsibility to ensure he or she doesn't get into trouble. You need to make sure they don't run into trouble in global chat. You need to make sure they understand what they are doing so they don't set themselves up for failure. You need to educate them on how lootboxes work, and how random rewards in the game work. You need to make sure they can handle dying in content, getting hopelessly stuck, or being unable to progress as fast as they would like, all of which can be frustrating to all players, much less younger ones.
It isn't Kabam's responsibility to protect your younger brother from making hugely disappointing mistakes. It is yours, and you didn't take that responsibility seriously enough. If it was my brother, I would just buy him a bunch of crystals to make up for my error in not guiding him properly for this event. Even if I was a free to play player for my own account.
Sadly, I think this may prove to be a step too far even for Super Jax.
In a similar situation albeit substitute younger brother with son. He’s been into the game for a while. Decent skills too- he’s hit paragon on his account. He started a mini account as a bit of fun and I invited him to my semi retired alliance a day after deadline. Sadly impatience got the better of him and he spent all his units buying and opening GBC’s before timer had run its course. I ended up buying the 10 GBC offer once timer was up as I felt bad for him missing out on account changing rewards.
DNA is right and there’s a lesson to be learned here.
My bad. I’m really quite **** at picking up on sarcasm with the written word unfortunately.
Which is somewhat ironic given what a sarcastic **** I am.
