Why does Vox have so many penalties or negative consequences?

Vox's Corrupted buffs have increased ability accuracy, but if nullified, each deals a burst of direct damage to Vox.
Vox has a synergy with Thors where Vox receives increased damage from hammer attacks.
Vox has two other synergies, where a negative effect is stronger against Vox (suicides and Sleep), but Vox does receive a damage increase.
The negatives seem to outweigh the positives (corrupted buffs ignore neutralize), or in one case (Thor synergy), it is all negative and no positive.
In most other champions, it seems like there is a balance trade off between negative and positive attributes. Odin has increased damage with number of buff that can be nullified, but aside from nullify interrupting his ramp up, it doesn't negatively impact him. Tech champions have armor that deceases damage taken but can be armor broken by Cosmics, but aren't negatively impacted beyond that.
Aside from supposed comic book accuracy, why is Vox designed this way? I get that in general, I shouldn't be taking in a Cosmic against a Mystic, but this mechanic seems extra punitive on top of class disadvantage and not being able to ramp up.
Am I supposed to avoid putting Vox and Thor on a team together, except when I am facing a Vox defender? And even then, I would rather take a Mystic nullify champion to take advance of the direct damage on nullify mechanic.

But, you should take a look at how Captain Marvel (Movie) disintegrates when she's facing a Mystic opponent, just when they hit into her block...
Vox has some pretty huge abilities to inflict Degeneration - this is just a weakness to give him some balance.
I think I've been brainwashed by all the BGs Bishops, where he benefits even when he is negatively affected by an ability.
