Either way, I'd make a ticket for it with Kabam. If the reason is sound enough, they can change it.
You'll have to provide three alternatives I believe, from which they then grab one. But that might have changed.

Use the gear icon on the top left in game, tap support and search “name change”, select “I want to change my in-game name.” at the bottom select I need more help.
