If you have a champ in war defense, can you use that champ in Raids attack

If you have someone in the war defence then he cant be used in the raids but i think,,, i think...
I m not sure if its true but if you dont have an active war and remove your defender from war then you can use them in raids and after entering raids but them back in defense.
