How does Kabam charge AW Defense Masteries Loadouts?

“After the current season is over on April 10th, if you want to set one of these Loadouts as your Alliance War Defense, there will be a checkbox for you to select to do so and it will show when placing your Alliance War Defenders. “

This information doesn’t tell us how exactly this function works. Does it automatically apply the selected Loadouts to Defenders and charge us 35 Units when each and every war begins?

I think it be like bgs where ur defense be that but wont change ur actual mastery loadout for everything else

Once you set it up it will not cost anything unless you want to change your defensive masteries. You tick a box, every AW it applies those masteries to your defenders automatically and free of charge, regardless of which loadout you are running for other content.

Dedicated AW defense loadout, for sure. Absolutely.

But I think the issues some have with it, or are foreseeing, are a couple examples given in the other thread. Let's say you want to arena grind a little bit one day, then you want to do some WoW fights or story questing, then wrap up the day doing some more arena.

Well now you need to switch between your Recoil setup, then back to your standard setup for WoW/questing, and then back to your Recoil setup for arena again. That's 35 units each time. Sure, you have the option to do all this and not change your loadout at all, but the loadout switching isn't as glamorous as some might have originally seen it as.

I think @DNA3000 's suggestion of Arena having its own "profile," as he called it, eventually would sweeten the deal a bit more for some people.

@jcphillips7 you say the downside is you have to spend 35 units to instantly swap to a recoil deck for arena, when swapping to recoils normally costs 60ish units right now depending on your recoil tree setup. I don't see any reason why this isn't an absolute win for the community.

As a follow-up, this doesn't even take into account swapping back to your normal setup. This is my normal setups I run, so swapping between both costs me 135 units per round trip as opposed to the 70 it now costs me.

I'm not saying it isn't cheaper. I'm saying it's not practical to do it multiple times a day/week. It's incredibly easy for someone to go from arena, to a WoW fight, to AQ/Raids, back to arena, to AW attack, back to story questing all within a single day.

You say it isn't practical when it is still much more practical than it used to be? The issue you just described is still what people have to go through right now, so why isn't it a huge win that they can save units if they need to swap masteries? I literally do not get your argument at all

Are people doing that as frequently right now? If so, then that's something I wasn't aware of, and yea, it's much better for those individuals who do that. Seems like an unwise use of units. But for your average player, I don't see them doing that in the current state.

I know for me personally, I thought it might get me doing arena more frequently because I could go in with Recoils, and then go about my other activities with my DW/Despair/MD/Inequity loadout. I know now this isn't the case. This is probably a case of "I want my cake, and to eat it too" more than anything, but, is what it is. Still stoked about dedicated AW-D though.

I'm curios why you would want to switch back so often? Suicides are fine 99% of the time. Act 4/5/6 doesn't exist anymore where you have to do 12 fights a path and suicides will kill you. Even worst case scenario you have to do 2 fights each with 3 champs and have just 2 for the boss.

Specialty fight there is one of every 3 months? Ok new system might not help(though it could), so just do it the old way.

I plan on one war defense loadout that will be worthless anywhere else. One heavy offense with suicides for arena; every day solo, 85% of war, and all of aq, incursion, pretty much anything.

The third I'm still debating on if I just want my non-suicide war attack, or a base where I have to add the last 10 points or so manually each time.

it means we can have a loadout specifically for war defence that will apply to our defenders every war free of cost

and we can use suicides for our war attackers with the help of another loadout?

Oh, that's what I'm saying. I would be one of those who would NOT be switching that often. It wouldn't make sense to me, and obviously costly even with the changes. But I suppose there are some that do that/would end up doing that? Idk.

With dedicated BGs loadout and a dedicated War defense now, I could probably find some middle ground loadout that I could use as an everyday along with arena, or just keep doing what I'm doing.
