Dr. Doom - Lost in translation

Since my youth (in ancient times 🤣) the translation of Dr. Doom to portuguese bugged me a lot.
Because of comics, I always had interest to learn english.

Now with this Marvel Forums with so many experts, may I have this question answered.

Which translation is the best for Dr. Doom?


As you can see ,in French is Doom 🇨🇵


Spanish is Muerte=Death 🇪🇦


But,in portuguese is Destino=Fate or Destiny 🇧🇷🇵🇹

Some publishers outside US just change the name of some heroes...for example Wonderman is Magnum here...

So, Dr. Fate exist in DC comics
I don't know of any Dr. Destiny anywhere...

In this case, Doom may be a synonym to Evil, Cruel or ...what fits better? Muerte/Death?

It's not exactly wrong though, one of the meanings of doom has to do with fate or destiny, so it sort of makes since from that perspective.

That's pretty good.
(wasn’t gonna try to weigh in on different translations at first)

But does seem like Destiny would be a closer similarity to Doom, as opposed to Death.

“you are doomed to have something bad happen”
“you are destined to have something bad happen”

-vs- that “something” being specifically to “die” (death / muerte)
