Is Nimrod still relevant in 2024?

With recent mutant defenders such as Dust and Onslaught countering some if not all of Nimrod's main mechanics as a mutant slayer, as well as the presence of newer tech champs like Shuri, Future Antman, OG Iron Man, buffed Red Skull, and now the Prowler, is he still relevant nowadays or is he outperformed by other techs?

I would say I definitely use him less in bg, but mostly because not a lot of mutants get drafted for defense it seems(beside onslaught or bishop). He’s very nice when they draft a domino. I still use him and warlock more than any tech in solo content tho

however both Onslaught and Bishop aren't Nimrod friendly opponents.
Yeah that’s why I normally don’t draft him. He seems to be a domino or nothing counter these days lol.

I haven't seen one in BGs in a while, story content and war absolutely but so far I haven't seen a single Nimrod and I'm one win away from D1.

Just because something is new, doesn't always mean it's better. Nimrod can still take out 90% of the mutant class with ease.
He's an above average defender too

Yet so many of them aren't great defenders that are used nowadays. Except for domino, Toad, Sauron

I love Nimrod, useful in a lot of modes. He was my go to champ for Kindred in the recent hotly debated side quest

Really, did he do that well? I thought he isn’t a good option due to the buffs he has

still good but his value in BGs has dropped a lot. rarely see him in decks these days.

100% with you there. Lots of disagrees on this lol

Also to OP, I wouldn’t say irrelevant because he’s still a great champ, just not as useful now

I mean he still handles those well, but my r2 OG Iron Man wipes the floor with those champs and feels more relevant.

I blame it on nostalgia 🤣 but yeah I removed Nimrod from my deck too. We have so many tech nukes nowadays and some are immune to aar so there's really no point in bringing Nimrod anymore, at least not for me.
He's still great for story content and EQ and stuff and I still use him sometimes but for BGs? Meh, why would I want Nimrod when Red Skull Shuri FAM Mysterio Shocker etc exist, not only can they take the matchups Nimrod can they take they are better on defense and they can take other matchups Nimrod can't take as well.

    Isn’t Nimrod slightly faster?

Red Skull, Mysterio, Shuri etc like I said they counter more stuff and they're better defenders overall.

He was fairly relevant for centipede-man in the current EQ for me, and takes full advantage of my full ouchies mastery loadout. If you spend your game time solely trying to kill your foe faster than your opponent, then sure, leave him out of your deck.

I still love him. Definitrly don't draft him often in BG's anymore, but also don't have FAM, nor do I have other champs like RS, Shocker etc ranked.

So for now, he stays. He has definitely got his place in the game still, just not as popular anymore.

Uh yeah..very much still relevant. He's not just a mutant slayer, he can be used on anybody. He's bleed and poison immune, has unblockable specials when awakened, and can remove prowess from mutants. He goes unstoppable on Defense in BGs. His eradicate protocol does not play. His shock damage alone can hit over 10,000 per tick. Only a couple of mutants, (and other champs) are shock immune compared to the total number of mutants in the game.

I personally use Shuri more, because of her utility. But Nims can still be used.
