Reflecting damage from Stryker

Just died in AW because Attuma reflected damage from my stryker's hit.
Is this how it should work? Should I take damage from my stryker's hits?
First of all, it's counterintuitive, secondly, it the stryker and the champion are different in terms of the game - why should the champoin take damage, if they are considered to be the same person, why does the opponent get energy from stryker's attack and my champion doesnt?
Looks like should be clarified to me

Why should you get energy when you opponent is getting hit?
Should work like that, otherwise they need to fix other issue such as striker removing Korg's rock stacks, Omega red applying spores etc. IT is questionable for sure, but if other things are allowed then Attuma's case should also be acceptable.

Damage back with a striker has always been a thing

So you don't ever get energy by hitting your opponent?

I understand this might be a thing, but why don't I get energy when stryker hits then?
