Who to rank 3?

Had some incredible July 4th luck (awakened seven star Serpent) and now find myself sitting on a rank 3 gem. Who should go up for Saga purposes? I am doing Battlegrounds but won't seriously play Gladiator Circuit and war is tier 3.

shang has a use almost everywhere. Aside from being an absolute dud on defense, he shuts down evade, unstoppable, easy accessible damage, and overall just enjoyable to play.

I was hard campaigning for Kate and everyone was still going on about how insane Shang was smh. I’m voting MM out of spite too lmao

Shang GOAT is the only best option. Moleman is a decent defender. But Shang is the greatest nuke so you should rank him even though he is a dud in defense.

Molegod. I had to r3 Shang for Valiant, and he's fine, but MM is just so more useful. His True Accuracy is so useful that barely anyone has it -- let alone at fight start.

He didn’t mention what is in my opinion Shang’s best piece of utility. Fight control. Having the option of stun on every combo means I can push any defender past their sp1 to sp2 if I wish, without having to force block and bait heavies, or give them any chance to act at all. I can also get consistent openings just by hitting block. As a result I don’t have to go for a risky intercept that can get me punished, or take unnecessary block damage baiting a heavy or reparry.

Almost every single clean Shang fight I have in bgs I finish above 95% health. Simply because I don’t have to rely on the ai for anything and can have them act according to how I want them to. Baiting specials is easy since getting them in the corner and knocking them down is almost impossible not to do when playing Shang.

Yes Shang is terrible on defense, but mole man is not a good defender by any means, he’s decent. He’s not someone you’re placing if you drafted other defenders, but generally a backup option. The amount of times you’ll actually use mole man for his defensive capability is very low, he’s much more of an attacker than a defender.

There’s a couple other things I could mention but k don’t wanna yap even longer than I already have lol. But yea I personally place Shang over mole man.

Very jealous of that Chee’ilth dupe. So tanky, and hits like a…tank. Situational utility as an unstoppable and miss counter. A heavy that feels like it covers half the screen.

Once I get her dupe she’s eating every possible sig stone. 90% physical damage reduction and a buffet of cleanse passives? Yes please.

Attuma: dual threat (more defensive), cool synergies with Hulk, Juggs, and Serpent.

I have Shang and Attuma at R3, both are great. Shang is a crit machine with a lot of damage and utility, but Attuma has been really useful too and he has the defensive threat. Also I used him a lot in the Act 9 beta

I still wonder why kabam put kate on the poll in the first place? I guess even they weren't aware about the insane power level of Kate. A 7* kate would be really broken at best, a r3 kate may do 4-4.5 k damage per tick by a single sp1.

I think they were aware but they wanted to teach us a lesson. Stop sleeping on newer champs before you actually have the time to test them yourself lol.
