6* or 7* Onslaught?

Lucked out hard and pulled a 7* Onslaught from a Titan Crystal. I already use a 6* R5 sig 200 ascended in BGs, AW and questing. My initial reaction was that I wanted to R3 the 7* ASAP, but am not sure given the amount of time it’ll likely take to dupe him, and worry that I’ll just be parking rank-up resources in him until he’s duped.

How would the 6* compare to the 7*? Would there be any advantage to using the 7* at R3 compared to the maxed out 6*?

7* onslaught is very bulky especially with stat focus and a 7* r3 on defense takes a while longer to get down and leaves more room to screw up. I can nuke a 6* r5 easily with my Hulkling, but he struggles to finish against 7* r3 with the sp2 into relic unless there’s a lot of lucky crits

I think this is correct — the additional beefiness of the 7 is significant. Plus you’ll dupe and sig him eventually. Onslaught’s kit is diverse enough and difficult enough that he should be relevant for a long time.

I have both versions:
6*r5 ascended: 70K health
7*r3 (unawakened): 87K health
