I don’t remember seeing an expiration but it’s tied to this months SQ, so I would open it by Wednesday to be safe.

The item itself in Inventory may very well remain (hopefully NOT, same for Clue Items), but since the code in the software will probably go away, it most likely will NOT do anything (ie, can not unlock it and get rewards).
It is NOT the same as keeping old crystals around. Crystal openings do not have specific software coding for each individual one (just the potential contents/odds/etc).

Whether it stays in code in this July Update ? Maybe, since some ppl would download the Update prior to the new month stuff starting in game. Or whether it is something “back-end server” that they will turn off come Wednesday ??

But spend down your Mysterium to 40,000 or under prior to unlocking the Murder Box, since you get 10,000 from the Murder Box.
