    The issue is that even though its a game, the majority of the consistent rewards are in game modes where losing matters like BGs, and if you've got a roster of just champs you like you might struggle in the circuit, or even on a less competitive scale in climbing the VT since often times deathless pieces, or titan shards are rewarded.

    I would. And I have. If you want to let go of the fun factor and take up champs that everyone ranks up, go ahead. But expecting others to do the same is wack.

    Its pretty fun and makes me seem less like a meta puppet (unlike you). You may continue enjoying glazing overrated champs. Been having fair amount of success in BGs too. Got into top 500 last season without trying too hard with a deck of "bad" champs, but oh well what would a slimy meta rat like you know

    My second and third R3 were CAIW and Emma, both of whom are solid but not meta champs. They are simple to use and I've had good success with them.

    For me, I enjoy getting to the GC, but afterwards lose interest. This season I completed the VT in under a week. Without having the meta champs as the top, I didn't do poorly and had fun

    I'll have to disagree on you calling Emma not being meta, she literally is nuke busted heavy champ and is proper hero with immunities.

    I would say a combo of the one you like to play + the one that add some value to the mode you like. e.g do you play BG, then focus on those BG champs and then select the one you like to play among them.

    Slightly different take, but pick a champ that works as a solid counter to a broad range of defenders and/or nodes.

    Players tend to select this or that “meta” champ, and that’s fine. However, I tend to view the game as problems vs. counters. For the most part, my rankups have followed that approach.

    Examples: If you find that there are several tricky to dex specials, Silk is a great counter with her auto evade. If you need a champ that doesn’t crit, CB and Guardian might be your pick. Non-contact hits? Shuri is a candidate.

    This shouldn’t suggest there aren’t great “all-arounders”—there are a few, but even those can run into counter issues.

    I think the reality is that the game has become far too complicated to say there is a *best* R3–even if there is one day a 7* Herc or Aegon.
