Serpent Really Isn’t Getting Rebalanced?

Wow. I can’t believe Kabam has decided Serpent isn’t overturned and ridiculous. No changes to how he interacts with nodes and no changes to be able to take him down with more competitive scores. The rebalance program is a farce and a joke.

The rebalance program was never indicated to be a nerf machine. It's entirely dependent on what their goals for specific Champs are, and they've never severely altered any Champs since the current program has begun.
Some Champs are just stronger than others at some aspects, and that's always been the case. I've seen a number of Champs that have been called too powerful over the years, and within 6 months time, people were so used to fighting them that they were scarcely challenging anymore.
GW back to harvesting disagrees I see.

Anyways, let me point out the obvious (for most people who actually play the game at least). No defender who has ever been called too powerful since the game's inception was objectively as powerful as Serpent is, you're out of your mind.
    That's dramatic.
There are players that are better at the game than you'll ever be and they're saying the exact same things, nothing about this is dramatic, this is the most overpowered defender we have ever had in the game hands down and anyone who thinks otherwise is either just sucking off the devs or plays the game once a week.
    Okay, that's inappropriate.
They said they're happy with the way he's performing. I'm sure they're aware of their game and their future objectives more than we are.
I didn't say he wasn't strong. I said we've overcome every Champ that people had histrionics over.
So feel free to flail your arms in the air. I'm sure the game will survive. If it was game-breaking, he wouldn't be left in the game in his current state.
I highly disagree with this. I don’t know if you’ve ever tuned into a livestream but devs have openly admitted they don’t have the skill or play in high tier stakes or end game. A lot of the content creators that do play higher tier and hit celestial have made comments about how disgusting and busted of a defender Serpent is. I would trust the word of celestial tier, tier 1 war content creators more than I ever would the devs. If the devs want to call me out and say I’m wrong that’s fine but they never come out and talk about their viewpoint on the game. I see the content creators daily doing the BG grinds, the war grinds, and creating tier lists for everyone so I 100% take their word that Serpent is busted over thinking the devs know 100% what’s healthy for the game.
You're mistaken. There are Devs that play at high levels. To say they don't know their own game is just plain ignorant.
Ok so I guess the content creators that play daily at a high level are just wrong?
    I didn't say that either.
To be honest, it isn't my decision. Nor is it yours, or the content creators. It's Kabam's decision based on how they want certain Champs to perform, which is why I said as much. Feedback is important, yes. Ultimately the decision is theirs. They're not blind to the game. If they said they're not touching him because he's performing as they intended, then that's pretty self-explanatory.
They said the same with Kate as well, another most broken champ.
    Kate isn’t broken. She’s also 6* locked now so…

    I would agree if I didn't have a 7 star r2

I'm not quoting multiple comments. Yes, I took issue with Abs Man. So did many, many others. Some people disagreed with me, and some people trolled me about it. It happens on here.
I'm not telling anyone to "Git gud.", or telling anyone to stop voicing their concerns, so I'd like to know how that makes me a hypocrite.
What I said was I've seen people call a number of Champs game breaking over the years, and then grow accustomed to them. We're not talking about a piece of content or overtuned Nodes. We're talking about a Champion. It's not a democracy with that. They listen to feedback, but the goal of how they want them to perform is the deciding factor.
I have no idea how many of you are in your 40s, but I'll give you a piece of insider information. The older you get, the less energy you want to waste. I've played against him. I know what people are talking about. I'm not arguing against altering him. I'm simply not arguing against their decision in this instance.
They're quite aware of the reactions. I know this because they've acknowledged that they're aware that a number of strong Defenders have been released recently, and that's by design. There's usually a reason for everything down the line, and to be frank, if the game doesn't challenge us in new ways at some point down the line, it will never grow.
Believe me, I don't care to take an anti stance for the sake of it. I'm just not as reactive as a lot of people on this one. If they left him as-is, then there's not much else to say.

I hate fighitng Serpent because of that ridiculous power gain, but I don't ban him so I can eventually see which champs are good counters to him. So far, Shuri can manage SOMETIMES because of her ability to block his unblockable specials, and Photon has been one of my best counters (when she's not banned) since she can control his power gain with her Petrify debuffs. I was able to get him down to 1% health with her, then I screwed it all up 😂

I honestly believe that Spiral is going to be the hard counter to him.

Plus she has that sunder which removes his critical resistance

I blame the designer of Serpent for this. He is using his power as designer and being persuasive to not let his champs be touched. He did the same with Kate Bishop as well.

Kate is good though. She’s balanced because she requires skill to play

They are happy with how Serpant played out. Depends on how much thier happiness matters to us in this case.

I don't think that's how that works, Serpent doesn't have crit resistance he reduces crit penetration by 60%. Crit resistance reduces crit rating, crit penetration is the amount of armor energy and physical resistance ignored by crits which is reduced by 60% in this case.
So does sunder work against him then?

It works but it doesn't shut down that particular thing in his kit cause it's not crit resistance, it's crit penetration.

Serpent does actually have a decent bit of base critical resistance (because why would Kabam skimp out on giving him a trait that makes him harder), which sunder does help with. It doesn’t help with the crit penetration reduction as you said, but it’s not useless either. Crits still deal bonus damage regardless of crit penetration.

Yeah it definitely works, just not going to do that much for you.

She absolutely is, DLL himself said so. He interfered wth her rebalancing so that his champ is not nerfed. Now he is doing the same again. Kate deserved a nerf and Serpent as well. She will stay 6 star locked forever.
he mentioned on stream some months ago that he regrets kate's damage.

We’re all upset at the balancing news but let’s not undermine our point by getting conspiratorial here. DLL is one of many champ designers, one of the newer ones too I think. He doesn’t have the power to strong-arm the balancing team into doing his bidding to fuel his ego or whatever. Kate escaped balancing because people (Kabam included) didn’t catch on to how good she was. Kabam made her a potential 7* option, we didn’t vote her in, and you bet that Kabam knows they dodged a bullet on that and won’t release her anytime soon. Serpent, meanwhile, isn’t getting nerfed because he makes money when we die to him and will continue to make money when they sell counters later on. Let’s call it what it is, Kate’s case is ignorance and Serpent’s is greed, plain and simple.
He sure has a big ego, he just doesn't want his champs nerfed. He 100% is being very persuasive, he said in one of the streams that balance team is his friends.

Welp, I won't be ranking up my negasonic in hopes for a slight damage buff.
Kabam is currently trying their best to not have to work extra on rebalancing these champions that's why mid attackers are being kept as is and op defenders are being left as is. Honestly if I had a lot on my plate as well and could just skip some things knowing people would yell and be over it in about a month I'd do the same.
Notice how literally at least one champ every month released this year has had something in their kit that most of the players scream should be rebalanced?? It's giving kabam extra work. THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO DO THIS EXTRA WORK IF THEY GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!

It's not too late to change Kabam. Maybe you are understaffed or any other reason. But your new defenders unbalance the game. Worse, they are not fun to face. You are shooting yourself in the foot by continuing down this path. Focus on the nodes to make the game challenging and not on stupid abilities against which the majority of characters can do nothing.

Unfortunately they are... there had been lay offs

I d prefer not having the balancing system at all. Here s your new champ, it is what it is. This way I ll know if I will chase for him or not.
But, if you keep introducing 5/5 defenders, at least add every god tier 6 stars in to your 7* schedule. Yes, including Doom, Herc, Scorpion, Nimrod, Kingpin, Hulkling, CGr and Fury.

I stopped spending money for a few months because of these characters who penetrate unreasonably the block, prevent dext or cannot die without us being able to prevent this thanks to good strategies. In same time AI is becoming out of control. Some will cite 3 characters who do it as an excuse for skill issue…
