Luke Cage vs Count Nefaria

Starting to see an increase in value in Luke all around content in BGs, War, and now Raids. On the other hand, if you look at Nefaria there's been a lot of negative critiques surrounding him such as the detriment of Unfazed, the somewhat nicheness in mainly being used in Regen and Power Gain matchups (of which he needs high sig for). Vega in his recent video gave Luke a 9 whereas only a 7 for Nefaria.

Who do you give the overall edge to?

Next war season I wouldn’t bother with either as they are either gonna be black listed or permabanned. In general I agree with Vega on Luke have more usability than Chocula

Good to know a mastery can ruin the whole kit of nefa, since he 100% needs to evade to gain energy vulnerability.

Then I wonder why Photon shuts off willpower healing mastery?
Isn't that how masteries work? To heal us? 😀

It’s only a 55 percent chance to gain an unstoppable when evading, unless you’re evading the whole fight, you’ll be fine. Luke Cage doesn’t have that problem.

Photon shuts mastery so you won't die by willpower regen reverse. If nefaria shuts mastery, then so does herc, kingpin, sinister, elsa, nega.

Heck, Venom should shut down coagulate, bleed is his main damage source.

Also nefaria can't be top 3 science no matter what definition you use.

Like it was said above, Photon shuts down Willpower to make her less dangerous, not to make her more dangerous.

Nefaria was designed that way to provide some balance - it deliberately makes him less safe in Battlegrounds and in need of OG IM synergy in War.

Kabam knew that when they designed him.

Unfazed doesn't 'ruin' Nefaria - he doesn't 'need' the Evade/Energy Vulnerability debuffs from his Evade to work. He uses them for increased damage. So you can still use him if Unfazed is a concern in a fight - it'll just take longer.

In the same way, Prowler doesn't 'need' his Incinerate to work, as a champion; but it drastically enhances his damage potential. People in the forums wanted him to have the ability to switch to Plasma for mutants, so he could take more fights - but Kabam isn't interested: they feel he's balanced, as he is; so he's not the best choice for Incinerate immune champs.

If they didn't 'fix' Prowler to inflict Plasma, I'm pretty sure they won't 'fix' Nefaria to shut down Unfazed; as they took an active decision not to do that prior to releasing him.

I’m happy they decided to not mess with masteries. It’s a design practice that needs to go on cool down for a long time. Nefaria doesn’t deserve special treatment over other champs that evade. And besides most meta defenders it won’t matter anyways as they either shut it down or recover too quickly for it to even be feasible to strike them in time with the extra animation

Even in bgs, nefaria is risky to use cuz you don't know who runs unfazed and it randomly screws you. Luke is slow, but can handle serpent and bullseye, So I'll prefer him.

Yeah thats what i meant, that they mightve only voted for outside of BGs where unfazed/masteries in general wouldnt be an issue. Didnt know Luke does bullseye. I know he does sassy and kindred fast. His AAR is very nice against mystics

He is not the best, But he is bleed immune, and can use the indestructible to tank one of the bullseye's specials.

I was really interested in what Kabam would do with Nefaria at first, and it certainly seemed that he would be a decent Science champ, but right now it's laughable how bad he is compared to even a longtime-overlooked champ like Luke. Just hope Kabam gives him a good rebalance and makes him more viable

Nefaria is equal parts quality and hype. Luke has faster and more reliable access to power control and his damage. Add in the ability to eat SP3s and the immense value of that utility he wins

Didnt even know the exhaustions gave him power control. When you factor that along with all his debuffs working with despair mastery to control regen, there isnt too much Nefaria can do that Luke can't aside from the evade, immunities and resistances
