The paradox that ruins the realm event, or why I’m not grinding BGs
I’ll try to keep this somewhat brief and constructive.
The realm event for BGs is fundamentally flawed. It exists with an eye toward incentivizing additional participation especially in gladiator circuit.
Unfortunately, it requires an investment from an individual summoner but the return is entirely contingent on the community.
For those of us with kids and/or busy jobs, binge playing isn’t an option. Steady progress is key to long term goals, whether it’s accumulating units or BG points.
This system requires 360 points every two days. Thats 310 points per two days after you deduct the 50 bonus. In the victory track, that’s basically two wins and a loss every day. In GC, it’s a little more than one win and loss per day.
Thanks to changes in the reward structure, however, there’s no guaranteed return for your time or your elder marks. There’s already chatter that we’re behind schedule. Many expect we will fall even farther behind. I’m cautiously optimistic that the extra points for gladiator circuit will help us maintain or pace or maybe even gain ground, but the community needs to hit 700mil for us to get the same 7500 7-star shards we’d get in the old system for 275,000 points (now 3500).
Anyway, we have no track record, no past data shared by Kabam, and the massive carrot being dangled here - the Titan crystal - requires an extraordinary amount of time and effort in a setting where you might not even get close to it because of lack of buy-in from the community. The feelings about whether to go for it or give up are just gross. I like knowing what I’m getting.
