Why is Red Skull Power Draining Hulking and Galan?

I have played this matchup more than 3 times and I thought I was doing something wrong. But when I went back to look at Red Skull’s kit, it says he “Power Drains”. Why in the world is he power draining hulking and galan when they are both immune to it? Venom would also be a good matchup cuz he has power drain immunity too, but I doubt he would work either.

No this is happening in battlegrounds. Hulkling should be OP in this matchup although I know red skull has auto-block and unstoppable. But attacking his block shouldn’t power drain hulkling or galan.

I tried him and wasnt being power drained was u seeing red numbers if so thats just direct damage that will happen anytime u hit block

I find this wierd tho. Before the buff, I used to use galan and tapping his block only gave me more harvest and no direct damage?

Last I checked they get HP drained; but the power stays there

U would have but u probs never noticed but its always been a thing if u hit him when he has armor ups u get direct damage

Yes but the fight would be little slow.

Counter?

No, not at all.

He can win, certainly.

But it'll be slow because (as you've said yourself) you either hit into block to go Unblockable, and take the ensuing damage; or you patiently wait out the Autoblock like everyone else.

Basically Hulkling has to fight Red Skull just the same as everyone else does.

Hulkling can't do his, "hit into enemy block to gain pierce buff" because if he do this, he will take damage everytime and that 7r3 damage is nuts.

RS used to be “drain and do damage”; no drain, no damage.
New Improved RS is “drain. do damage.’ separate conditions, not dependent on each other.

Pretty sure RS was always like this, this wasn’t a change that occurred with the buff. I remember seeing posts complaining about this “bug” well before he got buffed to stardom.

I remember when venom was buffed, he still took damage from RS's block. Pretty sure he has always been power drain with a side of damage, and never was power burn.

I learned from Trappy YT, it is possible to take Red Skull with Hulking, you do take 1 hit damage into block, but it is doable and possible winnable.

Of course this is a 6R5A not a 7R3, but at the same time I'm not very high skilled, sure better players can do better.

I'm sure there will be many more experienced players that will give you an extensive list.

As far as I know I think these champs does decent against Red Skull.

Hulkling (as shown above)
Vox - Spam SP1 and bate SP1
I would assume Medusa and Scream should do well.
I don't have Gorr, but also assume he does well, I don't have no experience of this.
I have also seen Fintech took Red Skull with Valkyrie (max sig), build up combo by hitting (not into block) Red Skull, bate out SP2, throw your SP2 into Red Skull block.

Sersi is pretty good for him, but he is still somewhat tricky.

Kushala is good because as you get blessings, her ability accuracy increases which means you can parry reliably even when he is at 10 armor ups. Her sp2 will do a lot of damage as well

Shuri is good because he ability accuracy can't be modified so you can parry all day everyday.

Howard is good because he armor breaks a lot with his heavies.

Duped gladiator can prevent red skull from getting armor ups (at least I'm pretty sure he can, haven't tested myself)

Everyone Fryday mentioned is also good.

The real things to watch for when looking for a counter is champions immune to AAR, armor breakers, autoblock bypassers, or anyone who can reliably heavy counter his sp1.

cgr makes him a joke. Kate is another common counter. Chavez works but you have to play strategically. Venom is a great counter as well.

Know how to punish his sp1 with a heavy and you can pretty much use anyone.

I can't believe no one mentioned the best RS counter - Red Mags. RS cannot autoblock against Mags so you just bait his sp1 like the good old days. Depending on the meta, sp2 to keep destroying armor ups or sp3 instan-kill.

But your stuns will still fail which is essential for mags gameplay.

I really like using Attuma for Red Skull.

He totally ignores the effects of armour on his Parry-stun; and True Accuracy let's him deal with Autoblock easily.

KM’s true strike makes him reliable in a pinch vs. Red Skull too. Sp1 spam to give yourself easy intercepts too
