How do BG rank rewards work?

I was watching @RichTheMan 's video and noticed he has less points then me but is a higher rank. He has 5106 and is rank 23680 while I have 5564 and I'm rank 33110. Does it depend on alliance or something?

    Poszilla is an alliance mate of his. He didn't show his own rank in the beginning of the video. I recommend watching videos with audio

    I have 5.3k points didn’t receive any rank rewards .. is it out for every one??
