Greetings Summoners,
We've seen some questions making the rounds out there about the Marvel Contest of Champions PC STEAM BETA, and put together a small FAQ to give you all some answers!
What will happen to the Mobile version of MCOC?
We have every intention of keeping the mobile version of MCOC around for many years to come. The addition of the PC allows us to extend our reach and bring the excitement you experience every day to new players and audiences with a different way to play.
How do I get access to the MCOC PC Beta?
MCOC PC Beta access is currently limited to select geos (AU, NZ, SWE), and by invitation to select members of our community.
If you are in those geos, you can request access through the Steam page (and we’ll be accepting these on a first come first serve basis until we hit our target PC Beta user counts for each of these geos)
For those we’re inviting through invitation, you’ve already received a Steam Key in your email if you were selected
We are keeping PC Beta access limited for now, but we are looking into doing a wider access one at some point in the future. Keep an eye out for future announcements.
What devices are supported?
MCOC PC is targeting Windows 10/11, and will feature mouse/keyboard and controller support. From the Settings menu you will also be able to remap your inputs, so you can customize them to your preference, or utilize other control peripherals like fight sticks.
The following is subject to change, but our currently planned min/recommended specs are…
Will this be available on Mac? On Steam Deck?
Currently there are no plans to officially support Mac or Steam Deck at this time, but we may investigate extending support in the future so stay tuned to
Will there be a purchase price on the PC version of MCOC?
No. The PC version will be free-to-play, just like the mobile version.
Can I play with my current account on PC or will I need a new one?
MCOC PC is fully crossplay compatible with mobile. If you login with your current Kabam ID email/password on PC, you can continue playing using your current account.
Will PC players have an advantage over mobile players?
Our intention is that what platform you play on comes down to player preference. Players shouldn’t feel like they have to play on a specific platform to be competitive. Players should be able to play on either, or both, and have a consistent experience.
We’re taking steps to make sure the experiences are as in-line between mobile and PC as possible, and are monitoring feedback and data to make sure that bears out. If it begins looking like that’s not the case, we’ll take further action to make sure things get back into balance.
Won’t cheating be a problem on PC?
Game integrity is our top priority for the PC, and we've started up a number of new technology stacks and anti-cheating strategies, like Easy Anti-Cheat and a host of others, to clamp down on cheaters. We can’t go into too much detail at this time for security reasons, but a number of these will also help improve the mobile side as well.
Does a PC version change Kabam’s stance on emulator usage?
No. Using emulators will still violate our Terms of Service and result in your account being banned. Please only download and play MCOC through officially supported platforms.
Will the PC version be getting different features and content than mobile?
Our intention is that the PC is just another platform you can play MCOC on, just like iOS or Android. There will be some platform PC specific settings and features, but the intention is that it’s one unified MCOC ecosystem. Play where you want to play.
