Kitty pryde mechanics

Hey I’m hoping some kitty players should help me out here.

Been trying to learn her on a new account I’m doing a valiant run on.

When I’m phasing dashing forwards (backdraft style) should it be possible for the opponent to beat me to the punch?

Like I understand if the spacing isn’t right I’ll not phase but I’m defo creating enough space to dash.

It keeps happening and I’m not sure how it should be possible if I’m phasing unless the opponent has a miss prevention mechanic.

Feels like it’s the buggy intercepting (like I can’t reliably use fantman swarm mechanic now as he whiffs intercepts or the opponent goes passive and sidesteps me) but wanted to check before I waste more time and resources on her. She feels unusable currently.

I’m using tigra synergy but not sure if it matters. Should only make her safer right?

You need at least 3 prowess before she phases. If she causes the opponent to miss she loses prowess so you may be below the needed 3 and hence are just dashing in

If this was a little before the 60 fps, i'd say 8/10 times the opponent should not be able to beat your attack, but given that you are playing on 60 fps the AI hits more nutty intercepts so i'd say yeah it's a 60/40 kinda thing. Btw just curious, why does it matter? even if they beat catch your attack they'll just miss and you'll get the opening you were looking for ( ignoring the prowess loss, 0 synergies ).

You need to be dashing distance away, dear enough for a full dash. Basically if you were rooted, did dash and hit them then you are too close. Be far away enough that you have to do a FULL dash

I’m getting hit is the problem. Maybe @Ortoun has got it and I’ve lost my prowess but seems unlikely as I’m being cautious until I get 10 and become unblockable. I need to record and take a closer look.

@JLordVileJ i don’t think it’s a spacing issue

Tbh closing the app and starting again it felt a lot better and I was able to complete the quest (6.1 no retreat).

You can't do
"Hit enemy's block, dash back and medium dash"to XL enemies consistency for some damn reason that Kabam has acknowledged but haven't solved it.

That's the reason why sometimes Kitty phase starts and doesn't start.

Kabam? Why no fix?

@ortoun I think you’re right I’m losing my prowess because the opponent keeps beating me to the punch and for a split second they miss and I’m not noticing it happened.

I guess AI recovery times are a factor here. I’m really noticing it again at the moment. Like with doom I knock the opponent down with a heavy and start spamming my unlockable sp2 and they can get up and dash right in my face before game allows me to throw it.

So frustrating as a couple weeks ago I felt like I could start using stand up intercepts again. I think I stopped doing those in like 2021 or something 😂

yeah if you dash, trigger phasing, then would get intercepted, instead your opponent misses and you get a hit; if you don’t notice then when you use the same timing for a non-phased dash you’ll eat the intercept.
