What’s the overall thoughts on this guy?

First time pull, pretty happy trolled with storm, however I want to know everyone’s thought processes on him, is he one of those champions who need the dupe, attack of defence purposes?

I absolutely love him. He's not the absolute best for any particular match up but he's really solid and having an evade counter so easily is great for him.

I find this champion fun to play. He has certain utilities that make him a decent attacker, like his armor breaks, which are great against champions with armor up (such as Red Skull and Killmonger), and his power gain, which means you don’t have to hit as much. This is especially useful in fights with nodes like Polka Dot Power. As a defensive character, I think he’s been losing a lot of relevance lately, especially because today’s Mystic champions focus on countering power gain due to Serpent. Finally, I’d recommend trying out this synergy if you’re planning to rank him up—it’s really fun to use on tech paths.

Yeah it’s a shame really, but those cold snaps will probably hit hard, interesting I’ll certainly take a look!

I don't have the 7* so maybe he's different but my problem with him is that his damage isn't anything to write home about. My guess is that his coldsnap damage can't be too powerful since it would then just smoke you if you fight an Aarkus defender anywhere, but since he relies almost entirely on that coldsnap damage when on attack, it being decisively "not too powerful" feels...I won't say crippling since he's still okay, but I just wish he had a bit more sauce in him.

That said, I still can't wait until I get the 7*. I have always had a soft spot for him.

I don’t use him very often, but he’s a great choice against robots (armor shatter) and pesky evaders

Aarkus absolutely does not rely on the coldsnap for his damage. Most of it comes from big hits via his armor breaks or fury buff, with additional support from sp1 burst damage (sp2 also deals the burst damage but you shouldn’t use it once you’ve set up armor shatter).

Aarkus ain’t bad at all, he just tends to be overshadowed by the bigger fish in the game. His damage is pretty good, although it tends to be a bit slower than you’d like thanks to the setup required. It’s definitely there though, I’ve done the abyss Darkhawk fight with my 7* r1. Good utility in power gain, power control resistance, anti-evade via coldsnap, armor break/shatter, and some minor debuff control if duped. His issue is that he’s not really the best at any of those things except maybe the anti-evade, so if you’re being optimal you usually would take someone else over him. If you just want a general beat stick with wide matchup coverage though, Aarkus is always a decent choice, just second-string if you’ve already got a developed roster.

Aarkus actually does have really good damage output, it just takes a long time to access. Once you get it, it’s not bad to maintain though. You want to throw an sp2 while you have ten armor breaks on your opponent to apply a long duration and potency armor shatter (usually you throw an sp3 to build those up more easily). Then, while the opponent is armor shattered, throw an sp3 to give you a big fury. From there, spam sp1 or 3 for damage. Throw an sp3 right before your shatter expires to let you build up ten armor breaks again, repeat. But most opponents are dead long before you need to repeat.

DO NOT THROW THE SP2 WHILE OPPONENT IS ALREADY ARMOR SHATTERED. It is bugged, has been for ages. It replaces your big armor shatter that you got from converting ten armor breaks with a new armor shatter that’s based off of only one armor break. Huge bummer. Really needs to be fixed.
